The Producer: Bardos Cider
We create Bardos Cider in as natural of a process as we know possible.
Simply, we either, (a) glean our apples from derelict orchards in West Sonoma County or (b) work with local farmers who steward the old orchards of a bygone California—no more, no less. Focusing on older trees that are no longer cultivated, we have found that in their struggle, they bear fruit with more personality. Additionally, we add in wild seedling, Indian, or old-world apples whenever possible. The majority of the varietals and sports we work with have been developed by historic characters like Luther Burbank, Felix Gillet, Albert Etter, and others for the specific climate of Northern California.
During the winemaking process, we intervene as little as possible. We press the cider, sometimes leave it to macerate on its own skins, and age it in neutral oak or steel. After bottling, we leave it to condition on its own naturally-occurring lees. The product is unfiltered and non-disgorged.
Our branding speaks to the diverse narratives present in the land and life that comprises the area in which we make the cider.
The fruit is grown on the unceded land of the Southern Pomo and Coastal Miwok and the wine is made with the utmost respect for the people of Graton Rancheria and acknowledgment of Elders, past, present, and emerging. (source: Bardos Cider)

When it comes to buying products online, shipping is the most important aspect, and that’s why we take great care in shipping and handling your order using only 100% recycled packaging material. Re-shipping
If a package gets returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, which will be determined based on quantity and shipping address. Shipping wine is extremely expensive, we are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.
Canceling an Order
If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancelling fee – the amount depends on how big the order is. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.
Important Compliance Requirements
UPS and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older.
Important COVID Update
UPS and FedEx declared that in order to protect their workers and customers, they no longer require a signature on delivery. This does not mean they will drop a wine box at your door. UPS delivery workers will make sure the person receiving the wine is 21 years or older, and will ask for his/her name - only then do they deliver the package.
Shipping Rates and Options
An important premise: wine bottles are heavy – about 3 pounds each – and shipping is expensive! Primal Wine is not backed by venture capital money – we proudly are a mom and pop independent online store – and we must charge shipping on all orders under a certain amount, otherwise we wouldn’t be in business. However, we try our best to offer you very competitive shipping rates and frequent free shipping discount. Please subscribe to our newsletter to stay in the loop!
Return Policy
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us via e-mail at hello@primalwine.com between 9 am and 5 pm Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Sunday, we would like to understand and try to solve your concerns. Returning wine is not allowed by law, and so we might make arrangements for a refund if appropriate
