Accessibility Statement

Primal Wine wants primalwine.com to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, by keyboard alone, with screen magnification, or with other assistive technology.

How we test the site

We run two independent automated accessibility engines, axe-core and IBM Equal Access, on a sample of 28 pages. The sample covers the home page, collection pages, product pages, a sold-out product, a bundle, the wine club, the cart, search results, guides, producer pages, the contact and FAQ pages, and the sign-in page. We test every page at a desktop width and at a phone width.

We also test by hand. We walk the site with a keyboard only, in Chrome at desktop size and in WebKit, the browser engine behind Safari, at iPhone size, through the age gate, the menus, the filters, the product page, the cart drawer and the first checkout screen. We check every sampled page with text enlarged to 150 percent, with the page zoomed to 200 percent and in phone landscape, and we measure the contrast of text and controls against their backgrounds.

We test with the NVDA screen reader and Chrome on Windows on 5 shopping journeys: the age gate, moving around the site, filtering a collection, adding a wine to the cart, and going from the cart to checkout.

Latest results

On October 4, 2026, we ran every test above on the 28 sample pages and checked each issue the engines flagged against the live page. 3 were real problems, and we fixed them the same day:

  • A hidden decorative graphic on the home page could be reached by screen readers.
  • On phones, the panel that suggests similar wines on a sold-out product could cover the link a keyboard user had moved to.
  • Article summaries on the Wine 101 page were cut off at 200 percent zoom.

We then re-tested the changed pages and found no further problems.

How we fix what we find

We fix accessibility defects in this site's own source code. We do not install an accessibility overlay or a plug-in that rewrites the page in the visitor's browser, because a fix in the source reaches every visitor and every assistive technology.

We re-test after every change, and we keep a dated record of what each test found and what we changed.

Content we do not control

Checkout and customer accounts run on Shopify, and some features here are provided by other companies. We do not control their code. When we find an accessibility problem in one, we raise it with the vendor, and we will replace a feature where a vendor cannot fix it.
