Product description

Gulp Hablo Garnacha 2024 comes from Bodegas Parra Jiménez, a pioneering organic and biodynamic estate in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Made from 100% Garnacha grapes sourced from two distinct vineyard sites—Entresendas, an ancient riverbed with alluvial soils, and Olla del Monte (Cuesta Colorá), where chalky clay slopes are covered with heat-retaining pebbles—this wine benefits from both Demeter biodynamic and Sohiscert organic certifications. Gulp Hablo Garnacha 2024 is crafted in collaboration with winemaker Juan Antonio Ponce: grapes are fully destemmed, fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, then aged six months before bottling unfined and unfiltered.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Gulp Hablo

Bodegas Parra Jiménez was founded in 1993 when three brothers—Francisco, Javier, and Luis Parra—decided to pursue organic winemaking in Las Mesas, a small village in Cuenca province within the Castilla-La Mancha region. At a time when ecological agriculture remained uncommon in Spain, the Parra brothers recognized that La Mancha's dry climate and minimal disease pressure made organic viticulture a logical choice. By 1996, they were exporting their first certified organic wines.

The estate has grown to encompass approximately 180 hectares (445 acres) across two primary vineyard sites. Entresendas ("Between Paths") occupies a former riverbed with nutrient-rich alluvial soils that provide excellent drainage and light reflection. Olla del Monte, known locally as Cuesta Colorá ("Colored Slope"), features chalky clay covered with pebbles that absorb heat during the day and release it during cold desert nights—moderating temperature extremes that characterize this high-altitude region.

In 2008, the Parra family converted to biodynamic agriculture, earning Demeter certification alongside their existing organic credentials. Their vision extended beyond viticulture to create a closed, self-sustaining ecosystem: the estate now raises La Mancha black sheep (a breed in danger of extinction) for Manchego cheese production, cultivates organic garlic, cereals, and legumes, and recycles grape pomace as animal feed.

Since 2017, Pablo Parra—Javier's son—has led winemaking, bringing new techniques learned from his mentor, the renowned natural winemaker Juan Antonio Ponce of Bodegas Ponce. This collaboration produced the Gulp/Hablo line, which emphasizes fresh, accessible wines at competitive prices. Pablo has also introduced orange wines, pét-nats, and amphora-aged cuvées to the portfolio.

Wine region

Castilla-la Mancha, Spain

Castilla-La Mancha occupies the vast central plateau of Spain, forming one of Europe's largest wine-producing regions. The territory encompasses the provinces of Toledo, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, and Albacete, with vineyards stretching across high-altitude plains ranging from 600 to over 900 meters elevation. This is the landscape made famous by Cervantes in Don Quixote—windmills dotting an expansive, sun-baked meseta where extreme continental conditions prevail: hot, dry summers and cold winters with significant diurnal temperature variation.

The region's climate, often perceived as harsh, actually provides natural advantages for viticulture. Minimal rainfall and intense sunshine create inhospitable conditions for vine diseases and mold, making organic and biodynamic farming practical choices. The high elevation moderates summer heat and preserves acidity in the grapes, while cold nights help maintain freshness and aromatic complexity.

Soils across Castilla-La Mancha vary considerably. The plains feature alluvial deposits from ancient riverbeds, while hillside sites often contain chalky clay with limestone substrates. Near Las Mesas in Cuenca province, where Bodegas Parra Jiménez farms, vineyards sit on both alluvial flats and gentle slopes covered with heat-retaining pebbles that warm the vines during cool desert nights.

Historically, La Mancha produced enormous quantities of bulk wine, much of it from the white Airén grape—still among the world's most planted varieties. The region has undergone significant transformation in recent decades, with quality-focused producers demonstrating that careful site selection, appropriate grape varieties, and thoughtful winemaking can yield wines of genuine character. Garnacha, Tempranillo (locally called Cencibel), Monastrell, and international varieties now share vineyard space with traditional plantings.

The Denominación de Origen La Mancha remains Spain's largest by area, though progressive estates increasingly work outside appellation restrictions to pursue their vision.
