Tasting notes

This is zero-zero Grenache from 30-year-old limestone vines with nothing added and nothing taken away: expect red fruit, garrigue, and a dry stony pull on the finish. It is the debut vintage from two producers working in one of Catalonia's most active natural wine communities, and the transparency of the winemaking lets the Escollades terroir speak directly.

La Tina de Laureano is a 100% Garnatxa Negra (Grenache) from the Escollades vineyard, located just outside Pinell de Brai in Terra Alta, Catalonia. The vines are roughly 30 years old, planted in limestone soils, and farmed organically by Josep Ramon Alabart. The vineyard covers 2 hectares.

The wine is made with zero additions: grapes are destemmed and undergo a 10-day co-maceration with spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel using only indigenous yeasts. No fining, no filtration, no added sulfur dioxide. Aging is in stainless steel, preserving the direct expression of the fruit and soil.

This is the first vintage from Josh Eubank and Lara Almazlinos, who produce wine in Pinell de Brai. The name pays homage to Laureano Serres Montagut of Mendall, one of the pioneering natural wine producers in the Terra Alta region and a central figure in its low-intervention wine community.

Terra Alta is the southernmost DO in Catalonia, bordered by the Ebro River to the west. Its limestone and clay soils, elevation between 300 and 700 meters, and the drying influence of the Mestral wind from the Ebro Valley create conditions that naturally limit fungal pressure and concentrate flavor in the fruit.

Works well alongside grilled lamb chops, roasted eggplant with romesco, or a plate of aged Manchego and charcuterie. The dry, stony finish and moderate tannins also make it a solid match for slow-cooked pork with herbs. Serve slightly cool, around 60-62F, to keep the fruit lively.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

J.Eubank & L.P. Almazlinos

Josh Eubank and Lara Almazlinos make wine together in Pinell de Brai, Terra Alta. La Tina de Laureano 2019 is their first vintage. The project is rooted in the local natural wine community centered on Pinell de Brai, a small town in Terra Alta that has become a reference point for low-intervention winemaking in Catalonia.

The Escollades vineyard, which supplies the fruit for this wine, covers 2 hectares and is farmed organically by Josep Ramon Alabart. The vines are approximately 30 years old, planted in limestone soils just outside Pinell de Brai. Harvesting is done by hand.

Winemaking follows a strict non-interventionist approach: grapes are destemmed and undergo a 10-day co-maceration with spontaneous, indigenous yeast fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is aged in stainless steel with no fining, no filtration, and no added sulfur dioxide.

Wine region

Terra Alta, Spain

Terra Alta is the southernmost Denominacion d'Origen in Catalonia, situated inland in the province of Tarragona and bordered by the Ebro River to the west and the Els Ports Natural Park to the east. The mountains reach 950 meters above sea level, though most vineyards sit between 300 and 700 meters on slopes, plateaus, and valley floors. The region received its official DO status in 1972 and encompasses approximately 6,000 hectares under vine.

The climate is Mediterranean with a strong continental influence: summers are long and hot, winters are cold, and annual rainfall averages around 400mm. The Mestral wind, a dry northwesterly from the Ebro Valley, keeps humidity low and reduces fungal pressure, making it well-suited to organic and low-intervention farming. Soils are predominantly limestone and clay. Garnatxa Negra (Grenache) and Garnatxa Blanca (White Grenache) are the dominant varieties, with Terra Alta holding roughly 30% of the world's white Grenache plantings.
