Tasting notes

This is a rare Semillon-dominant blend from California — 75% Semillon gives it a waxy, slightly honeyed texture that Sauvignon Blanc alone rarely achieves. The 2020 vintage adds some historical weight: it was the project's first release, made under fire-season pressure, and vinified with almost nothing added.

Fiky Fiky is a négociant natural wine project run by Los Angeles-based friends Ty Steidle and Brock Larson, who vinify in Healdsburg, California. Their 2020 white is a Semillon-dominant blend — 75% Semillon and 25% Sauvignon Blanc — sourced from organically and regeneratively farmed vineyards in Northern California. At 12.5% ABV, it is dry, light-bodied, and unfiltered.

2020 was Fiky Fiky's debut vintage and a particularly challenging one: wildfires across Northern California pushed temperatures higher and accelerated ripening, causing the fruit to lose some of the acidity the winemakers were targeting. They harvested before smoke could penetrate the skins, and the result became an early lesson in listening to what the fruit was doing rather than what the plan called for.

All Fiky Fiky wines are wild-fermented using only the native yeasts already present on the grapes. Sulfur dioxide is added only in trace amounts, and only when deemed absolutely necessary. The wine is unfiltered. The Semillon majority drives the blend toward waxy texture and citrus weight, while the Sauvignon Blanc contributes green herb and brighter acid notes.

The name Fiky Fiky comes from an Italian disco song by Gianni Drudi (1988). The producers use it to underline that natural wines are alive and always changing — no two bottles will be identical, and no bottle will taste the same twice.

The waxy texture and citrus backbone of Semillon make this a strong match for raw oysters, grilled halibut, or lemon-dressed crab. It also works well with soft fresh cheeses like chèvre or burrata. The wine's low alcohol and light body keep it from overwhelming delicate preparations.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Fiky Fiky

Fiky Fiky was founded by Ty Steidle and Brock Larson, two Los Angeles-based friends whose 2020 release was their first vintage. Larson had worked a harvest prior to the project's launch, and both producers credit mentors for guiding them through the early learning process. They vinify in Healdsburg, California.

Fiky Fiky operates as a négociant, sourcing fruit from growers who farm organically, biodynamically, or under certified sustainable programs — all without synthetic chemical applications to vines or soil. The producers do not own vineyards. Their stated position is that 99% of winemaking happens in the vineyard, and that the cellar's job is to avoid interfering with what the fruit has already become.

All Fiky Fiky wines are wild-fermented with native yeasts only. Sulfur dioxide is used only in trace amounts when the winemakers judge it strictly necessary. Wines are unfiltered. The 2020 release was made under difficult conditions — Northern California's fire season that year accelerated ripening and reduced the acidity the team had been targeting, requiring them to adapt mid-harvest.

Wine region

Sonoma County, USA

Sonoma County sits on California's North Coast, roughly 55 miles north of San Francisco, and spans approximately 1,600 square miles from the Pacific Coast inland to the Mayacamas Mountains. The county encompasses 19 distinct American Viticultural Areas, including Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, and Russian River Valley — each with meaningfully different soils, elevations, and temperature ranges. Pacific fog and marine wind funnel through the Petaluma Gap and the Russian River corridor, moderating afternoon heat in the western sub-appellations and extending the growing season.

Sauvignon Blanc is the second most planted white grape in Sonoma County after Chardonnay, and the Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, and Russian River Valley all produce notable examples. The region's winemakers often reference white Bordeaux as a model, blending Semillon with Sauvignon Blanc to add texture and weight. The Healdsburg area — where Fiky Fiky vinifies — sits at the convergence of the Dry Creek, Alexander, and Russian River appellations, and négociant producers there can access fruit from all three.
