Tasting notes

Fourteen days on skins pulls out strawberry and rhubarb fruit alongside tea-leaf tannins without turning this into something heavy or extracted. The combination of low alcohol, fresh acidity, and light grip makes it one of the more versatile skin-contact wines coming out of California.

Spaceboy is 100% Pinot Gris sourced from Heringer Vineyard in Clarksburg, Yolo County, California. The vineyard sits along the Sacramento River on sandy alluvial soils and is farmed using organic methods, with CCOF certification in process. Grapes were foot tread and fermented dry on skins for 14 days, giving the wine its salmon-copper hue and light tannic grip.

After pressing, the wine was racked into neutral French oak barrels where it aged for 7 months. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered with a single SO2 addition of 25ppm. The result sits in ramato territory: technically a skin-contact white, but pale enough in color to read as a very light red.

On the nose, strawberry and rhubarb come through clearly, with dried tea-leaf character emerging on the palate. Acidity is fresh, tannins are light and grippy rather than astringent, and the body stays lean. At roughly 11-12% ABV this is a low-intervention, low-alcohol skin-contact wine built for the table.

The light tannins and fresh acidity make this a natural match for salmon, trout, or other fatty fish. It works equally well alongside charcuterie, aged goat cheese, or a simple roast chicken. The rhubarb and strawberry notes also complement dishes with a slight tartness, like a tomato-braised pork.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

End of Nowhere

End of Nowhere is a natural winery based in Amador City, California, in the Sierra Foothills. It was founded by Chris Walsh, who grew up in Amador County, worked as a sommelier in New York City, and returned home to start a winery. Before launching End of Nowhere, Walsh gained experience working at Donkey and Goat, Terre Rouge, Matthew Rorick, and Shake Ridge Vineyard.

Walsh planted the 10-acre Little John Lane Estate Vineyard in Pioneer, California in 2014, focused on Rhone varieties suited to the foothills' high-elevation terroir. While waiting for those estate vines to mature, he sources fruit from organically farmed vineyards in the Sierra Foothills, Clarksburg, and Lodi. Purchased-fruit wines are bottled under the End of Nowhere label; estate wines will carry the Little John Lane label.

In the cellar, Walsh uses native yeast fermentations exclusively and keeps additions minimal: total SO2 across all wines is 40ppm or less, and wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. He ferments in a combination of old barrels, flex tanks, and T-bins, and ages everything in neutral French oak.

Wine region

Clarksburg, USA

The Clarksburg AVA occupies flat delta land spanning portions of Yolo, Sacramento, and Solano counties in California's Central Valley. The appellation sits at the confluence of the Sacramento and San Joaquin River systems, and its vineyards are planted on mineral-rich alluvial soils of loam, silt, and clay deposited by centuries of river flooding. The terrain is low-elevation and largely flat.

Clarksburg's defining climate feature is the delta breeze: cool air and fog that pushes inland from San Francisco Bay each afternoon, keeping temperatures significantly lower than nearby Sacramento. This extended hang time makes the region well-suited to aromatic whites and produces grapes with naturally higher acidity. Chenin Blanc is the most celebrated variety here, though Pinot Gris, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel are also widely grown across the AVA's more than 12,000 planted acres.
