Tasting notes

Ninety days of skin maceration on centuries-old Carignan vines pulls out layers of earth, cocoa, prune, and dried fig that you won't find in a conventionally made Languedoc red. The wine is bold but the acidity holds — it stays alive and moves across the palate rather than sitting heavy.

Sereibroc is Corbières spelled backward. The name signals exactly where this wine comes from: old Carignan vines and a small proportion of Grenache Noir, both rooted in red clay soils in the Corbières area of the Aude, well-exposed to the sun and swept by the tramontane. Antony Tortul sourced these grapes under organic and biodynamic standards, as he does across all his La Sorga cuvées.

The entire harvest macerates on the skins for 90 days in concrete vats. No yeasts are added — fermentation is entirely spontaneous. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered with no added sulfites, and spends two years in bottle before release. Extended decanting is strongly recommended before serving.

The result is powerful but retains genuine freshness and lively acidity. Aromas run toward earth, cocoa, prune, and dried fig, with the characteristic animal and spicy edge that old Carignan delivers. The palate is structured, with some grip from the long maceration, but the acidity keeps everything moving.

This is a Vin de France — Tortul's zero-zero approach sits outside conventional Corbières AOC requirements, but the identity of the wine is entirely rooted in that territory and its ancient vines.

Serve alongside slow-braised lamb shoulder, duck confit, or a board of aged hard cheeses. The wine's tannic structure and earthy depth also pair well with dishes built around mushrooms or charcuterie. Decant for at least an hour — ideally two.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

Producer profile

La Sorga

Antony Tortul was born in Foix, in the Ariège department at the foot of the Pyrenees. After studying chemistry in Toulouse, he redirected toward wine and spent six years working as a viticultural technician and oenologist across vineyards in Bergerac, Fitou, Corbières, Ariège, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. He founded La Sorga in 2008, initially operating as a négociant out of Béziers, sourcing grapes from organic and biodynamic growers across the Languedoc. From 2013, he also began farming his own vineyards.

La Sorga works with roughly 25 hectares spread across the Aude and Hérault departments, planted to more than 20 varieties on soils ranging from calcareous clay and schist to basalt, sand, and granite. All vineyards are farmed organically, with approximately half managed biodynamically. Tortul gravitates toward old vines — many parcels carry fruit from vines over a century old — and he selects for low yields and exceptional terroir across each site.

Winemaking across the entire La Sorga range is zero-zero: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration, and no added sulfites. Maceration lengths vary significantly by cuvée — Sereibroc is among the most extended at 90 days in concrete vats. The wine then spends two years in bottle before release. Tortul produces around 30 different cuvées per vintage, each reflecting the specific terroir and variety of its source parcel.

Wine region

Languedoc, France

Corbières is the largest AOC in Languedoc, covering roughly 13,500 hectares in the Aude department of southern France. The appellation stretches from the Mediterranean coast westward toward the foothills of the Pyrenees, taking in an exceptionally varied landscape of ridges, valleys, and garrigue-covered hillsides. Soils are a mosaic of schist, limestone, sandstone, and marl, and the climate is Mediterranean, tempered by the tramontane — a dry, strong wind from the northwest that reduces disease pressure and concentrates the fruit.

Carignan is the emblematic grape of Corbières, historically the dominant variety and the one most closely tied to the appellation's character. Red wines account for approximately 85-88% of production, typically blended from Carignan with Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, and Syrah. The AOC was formally recognized in 1985 and is divided into distinct sub-zones including Hautes-Corbières, Corbières-Méditerranée, and the separately demarcated Corbières-Boutenac. Languedoc as a whole is France's largest wine-producing region by volume, with appellations ranging from Faugères and Saint-Chinian in the north to Fitou and Minervois bordering Corbières.
