Tasting notes

This is a rosé that earns its fruit rather than performing it — old-vine Cinsault and Grenache from 50-year-old vines deliver strawberry and blood orange with a savory, mineral undercurrent that keeps you reaching for another glass. Zero added sulfites and spontaneous fermentation give it a lively, slightly unpredictable edge that sets it apart from cleaner, more commercial Provence styles.

Château Landra's Pur Jus Rosé is made from Grenache and Cinsault grown on the gravelly alluvial terraces and silty-clay soils at the foot of the Monts de Vaucluse, within the AOC Ventoux. The vines average over 50 years old. The estate sits south of Mont Ventoux, where nearly 2,800 hours of annual sunshine and cool mountain nights produce grapes with good natural acidity and physiological balance.

Winemaking is fully hands-off: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, aging in stainless steel, no added sulfites at bottling. The wine receives a light cellulose plate filtration (1.5 microns) and is fined with bentonite, making it suitable for vegans. Total sulfites measure at or near 0 mg/L.

The Pur Jus label is Château Landra's zero-SO2 line. Since 2014, all wines at the estate have been made without any added inputs. Certified organic since 2009, the estate does not use herbicides, insecticides, or synthetic fertilizers. Each varietal and each parcel is harvested by hand and vinified separately before blending.

The result is a dry, fruit-forward rosé with the lifted freshness typical of Ventoux, where altitude moderates the Mediterranean heat. Expect a watermelon-pink color, red fruit, and a savory, mineral-tinged finish from the old-vine Cinsault.

Works well alongside grilled fish, roasted chicken with herbs, or a board of fresh chèvre and cured meats. The savory, mineral finish makes it a natural match for Provençal dishes like ratatouille or a simple tapenade. Serve well chilled at around 48–52°F.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Château Landra

Château Landra is located in Pernes-les-Fontaines, Vaucluse, on the south- and southeast-facing slopes of the Monts de Vaucluse. Cécile and Frédéric Renoux purchased the estate in 2007 after it had been abandoned for nearly a century. The property has historical roots dating to the interwar period, when it was one of the first private wineries in the Ventoux area. The estate motto, 'Solis Solique Virtus Sola' (the only virtue of the sun and soil), has appeared on Château Landra bottles for over 100 years.

The estate farms 8.5 to 9 hectares of vines, the majority over 50 years old, on gravelly alluvial terraces with silty-clay and limestone-chipping soils. Certified organic since 2009, the estate banned all herbicides, pesticides, and synthetic fertilizers immediately upon acquisition. All fruit is hand-harvested, and each varietal and parcel is vinified separately before blending. Since 2016, Manon Renoux, the couple's daughter, has progressively taken over winemaking responsibilities after training in oenology and gaining experience in Australia and Chile.

Since 2014, all wines at Château Landra have been made without any added inputs: indigenous yeasts only, no SO2. The Pur Jus line goes furthest in this direction — zero added sulfites, spontaneous fermentation, aging in stainless steel. Light filtration (cellulose plate, 1.5 microns) and bentonite fining are applied to the whites and rosés. The estate produces approximately 40,000 bottles annually across white, rosé, and red wines, all classified under the AOC Ventoux.

Wine region

Southern Rhone, France

AOC Ventoux sits in the southeastern corner of the Southern Rhône, spreading across 51 communes of the Vaucluse department along the lower slopes of Mont Ventoux and the foot of the Vaucluse Mountains. The appellation covers roughly 5,700 hectares and gained AOC status in 1973 under the name Côtes du Ventoux, before being renamed Ventoux in 2009. Mont Ventoux rises to 1,912 meters, the highest point in the region, and its altitude is the defining force on the appellation's climate. Vineyards range from 150 to 500 meters above sea level, producing one of the coolest microclimates in the Southern Rhône with pronounced diurnal temperature swings of 8–12°C during the growing season.

The Mediterranean climate brings approximately 2,800 hours of sunshine annually, while the Mistral wind provides natural disease control and extends the ripening season. Soils vary across the appellation: limestone, clay, sand, marl, and alluvial deposits of rolled pebbles and gravel, particularly in lower terraces near the Monts de Vaucluse. For red and rosé wines, the principal permitted varieties are Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, and Carignan (maximum 30%). The altitude-driven freshness and natural acidity retention distinguish Ventoux wines from neighboring Southern Rhône appellations, producing lighter, more mineral-driven reds and rosés.
