The Wine: Les Gallinetes 2018
Josep Foraster Les Gallinetes is a red natural wine made from a blend of 40% Garnacha, 30% Trepat, and 30% Syrah farmed organically, grown and harvested by hand – some biodynamic practices also followed. The vineyard is planted on alluvial clay soil situated on sunny slopes. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. "Les Gallinetes" (the hens, in Catalan) is a wine with a social conscience. Mas Foraster produces Les Gallinetes in collaboration with the association of mentally handicapped children of Conca de Barberà, and each year a new label is designed by a child under the care of the organization. Mas Foraster makes a contribution to the organization for each bottle sold.
