Highwire Guatemala Single-Origin Coffee Beans, 12 oz

Price: $22.50

Bella Carmona, in Antigua, Guatemala. Washed, grown at 1,650 metres, and the bag says so, which is the level of detail that lets you actually compare one coffee to another.

Dense, zesty and caramel on the label. Altitude is why: coffee grown high matures slowly, which concentrates sugar and acidity in the seed, and Antigua is one of the classic addresses for it.

Roasted in Oakland. 12 oz, whole bean.

The Brand

Highwire Coffee Roasters

Robert Myers and Rich Avella met in the mid-1990s and now roast in Oakland, with cafes in Alameda, Albany, Walnut Creek and Emeryville.

They call what they are after approachable excellence, and they roast across a spectrum rather than to one house profile: bright single origins at one end, deeper chocolatey body-forward coffees at the other, on the theory that people want different things from a cup and all of them are allowed.

Pantry FAQs

Pantry items are fulfilled by our partner retailer in California, so they ship on their own and will not arrive in the same box as your wine. Order both and you should expect two parcels, often on different days.

You will receive tracking for the pantry parcel within 3-4 business days.

Wine requires an adult signature on delivery. Pantry items do not, so they can be left at your door like any ordinary parcel.

Yes. Nothing here is tied to a wine purchase. Shipping for pantry items is calculated separately at checkout.

Most of what we carry is shelf stable until it is opened, and would rather sit in a cool dark cupboard than on a sunny counter. Anything that needs refrigerating once opened says so on the label.

Email us with your order number and a photo of the problem and we will make it right.

These are things we actually cook with, picked by the same people who pick the wine. A good bottle tends to want something on the table next to it, and this is the shortlist we would hand a friend who asked.
