Sustainable Handmade Low-sulfites Low-intervention
Description

Deux Punx California White Wine is a natural white blend sourced from organic vineyards across Northern California, including regions like Yolo County’s Heringer Vineyard (Pinot Gris, Chenin Blanc) and San Benito County’s Wheeler & Calleri Vineyard (Chardonnay). The grapes thrive in diverse soils such as clay shale, gravelly loam, and volcanic deposits, reflecting California’s varied terroir. Winemakers Dan Schaaf and Aaron Olson employ minimalist techniques: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, aging in neutral oak or stainless steel, and minimal sulfites.

Tasting notes

A lively medley of citrus zest, green apple, and tropical fruit (pineapple, melon) dominates, with subtle floral undertones and a saline-mineral finish. Bright acidity balances the wine’s medium body, while a touch of texture from lees aging adds depth without heaviness.

Food pairings

Pair with fish tacos or grilled shrimp skewers.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package gets returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee to be determined based on shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive, we are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to re-route a package after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancelling fee – the amount depends on how big the order is. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat/frost-related issues. for heat we offer ice-packs upon request. please let us know should you think that there could be heat-related issues. again, if we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Producer profile

Deux Punx

Deux Punx was founded by Dan Schaaf and Aaron Olson, two wine-addicted, ex-punks, in April 2008. They utilize the facilities of Punk Dog Wineries, a shared space in the River East Neighborhood in Napa, which lends itself to the minimalist and experimental style of winemaking they capture in their wines.

They love the producers and the grapes that surround them: brambly Pinot Noir off of native root stalk from Elk Prairie Vineyards high above the Eel River in Humboldt County, tart strawberry Grenache Noir and Rose from the Tejada family's beautiful Lake County vineyard, tropical fruit-laden Scribner Bend Viognier from Clarksburg's rich delta soil, lean and mineral Suma Kaw whites from the Sierra Foothills and the white pepper of Albini Carneros Cabernet Franc.

All of their wines are produced in the same manner—native fermentation, minimal SO2, neutral oak, and ambient temperatures. Their philosophy is to let the raw materials from the vineyards shine, embracing the differences between sites and vintages. Dan and Aaron enlist artist friends to create their labels, resulting in unique, quirky labels for their quality juice paired with some musical genius. Deux Punx believes wine is meant to be shared and enjoyed, not cellared and ignored. So go buy a bottle and drink it!

Wine region

California, United States

California is a leading wine-producing state in the United States, distinguished by its diverse climates and geographical features ideal for viticulture. The state comprises several renowned wine regions with unique climatic conditions and grape varietals.

Napa Valley

Located north of San Francisco, Napa Valley is one of the most famous wine regions globally. This area is celebrated for its Cabernet Sauvignon, which benefits from a climate moderated by fog from San Pablo Bay. Napa Valley's diverse soils, including volcanic and sedimentary types, contribute to the robust flavors of its wines. Besides Cabernet Sauvignon, the region cultivates Merlot, Chardonnay, and other varietals, each thriving in the valley's distinct microclimates and terroirs.

Sonoma County

Adjacent to Napa Valley, Sonoma County is larger and more diverse. Its cooler climate, influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, is ideal for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel. Sonoma's varied terroirs range from the cool Sonoma Coast to the warmer Sonoma Valley, offering a broad spectrum of wine styles and flavors. The region's complex soils and microclimates allow for a wide range of viticultural practices and wine expressions.

Central Coast

Spanning from San Francisco Bay to Santa Barbara County, the Central Coast includes numerous smaller AVAs (American Viticultural Areas). This extensive region benefits from a long growing season influenced by coastal breezes that moderate temperatures. Notable sub-regions include Paso Robles, known for its robust red wines like Syrah and Zinfandel, and Monterey County, where cooler climate varietals like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir thrive. The Central Coast's varied climates and soils support various grape varieties, producing diverse, high-quality wines.

Sierra Foothills

Located east of Sacramento, the Sierra Foothills rise into the Sierra Nevada mountains from the valley. This historic wine region, known for its role during the California Gold Rush, produces wines from old vine Zinfandel and increasingly notable Rhône varietals. The higher elevation results in significant diurnal temperature variation, preserving acidity and enhancing flavor complexity in the grapes. The rugged terrain and diverse soils contribute to the unique characteristics of the region's wines.

Lodi

Situated in the Central Valley, south of Sacramento, Lodi benefits from a Mediterranean climate. The region is renowned for its old vine Zinfandel, with some vines dating back to the late 19th century. Lodi's sandy soils provide excellent drainage and are resistant to phylloxera, contributing to the health and longevity of its vines. The region's warm days and cool nights are ideal for ripening a variety of grape varietals, producing rich and flavorful wines.

Mendocino County

North of Sonoma, Mendocino County boasts a cooler maritime climate and is recognized for its commitment to organic and sustainable viticulture. The region focuses on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Anderson Valley benefits from coastal fog and cool temperatures that extend the growing season, allowing for the development of complex flavors and balanced acidity in the wines. Mendocino's varied terroirs and sustainable practices enhance its reputation for distinctive wines.
