History

The estate takes its name from Ettore, Sergio Germano's father, a grower known across Serralunga for his skill grafting vines. Sergio trained at the School of Enology in Alba and worked at Fontanafredda before returning home in 1993. He runs the estate today with his wife, Elena.

Farming

Around ten hectares of vineyard sit in Serralunga, with another ten in the cooler, higher Alta Langa at Ciglie. The family farms organically, with no herbicides, feeding the soil with manure and sowing green manure of legumes and crucifers in alternate rows.

Winemaking

The split between warm Serralunga and high-altitude Alta Langa gives Sergio an unusually broad range, anchored by structured, age-worthy Barolo. Each wine is built to reflect its commune and its site.

Production

Beyond benchmark Barolo, from the Cerretta, Prapò and Vignarionda crus, the estate makes Dolcetto, Barbera, one of Italy's most admired Rieslings and traditional-method sparkling from the Alta Langa.
