International Popular Wine

Purity Wine was founded by Noel Diaz, who began making wine in 2013 and established his winery operation at 1401 Marina Way South in Richmond's Marina Bay District in 2017. Diaz grew up in Delano in Kern County, where his parents were migrant farmers. He came to the Bay Area for film school and eventually shifted toward winemaking, operating first out of a facility on Treasure Island before relocating to Richmond. The name Purity Wine reflects Diaz's stated philosophy of minimal intervention: letting the grape express itself without manipulation.

Purity Wine operates as a collective winery space that hosts multiple natural winemakers working under one roof. International Popular Wine is one of the labels produced within this shared facility. Diaz sources grapes from organic or biodynamic California growers and applies native yeast fermentation across all wines. His wines are left unfiltered and he rarely uses sulfur, with no added SO2 across most of his lineup. Diaz also describes his farming approach as regenerative — emphasizing biodiversity, no-till practices, and ecosystem health beyond standard organic protocols.

For this pet-nat, Verdelho from Contra Costa County was harvested in early August 2020, pressed the following day, and fermented with native yeasts. The wine went through a reductive phase before stabilizing into its current profile. It was bottled before fermentation completed to capture natural CO2, then disgorged and finished with a small addition of Cinsault to add tension to the blend. No sulfur was added at any stage; the label notes only naturally occurring sulfites.
