Cellar Selection

The bottles we set aside for a serious table. Cult California, grower Burgundy, benchmark Italian estates, and the natural producers who first made Primal Wine worth knowing. Classic and natural, side by side. Hand-picked and in stock now, often only a few bottles each, for a cellar worth building, a gift that lands, or a dinner you will remember.

Read more about the Cellar Selection

The Cellar Selection is our small, rotating set of serious bottles: wines chosen for provenance, balance, and the ability to age. It brings together two worlds that are often kept apart, the classic and the natural, from cult California and grower Champagne to benchmark Burgundy, Barolo, and the low-intervention producers that built Primal Wine's reputation. The common thread is quality and character, not a single category.

These are wines to lay down, to open for a special meal, or to give to someone who takes wine seriously. Many are held in tiny quantities, sometimes only a few bottles each, and they change as bottles sell and new ones come in. Everything here is in stock now, so what you see is what is available, and it is worth checking back as the selection turns over.

If you are building a cellar, treat this as the top shelf. Decant the younger, structured reds ahead of time, hold the age-worthy bottles a few years if you can, and serve them with food worthy of the occasion. For more in this vein, see our Classic and full-bodied collections.

Frequently asked questions

We will process and ship your order in 2-3 business days, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking as soon as the Carrier scans the shipping label.

Ground shipping time depends on location, here's a breakdown:

West Coast: 1-2 business days
Midwest: 3-4 business days
East Coast: 5 business days

Process time is not shipping time. Shipping time starts from the days successive to the day of shipping, after the order has been processed.

See here our shipping policy.

Signature on delivery is mandatory for wine deliveries. Please make sure someone is at the shipping address to sign for the package.

If applicable, please consider delivering the package to a business address to ensure someone is available to sign for the package.

We also have the option of delivering the package to a Carrier's store for pickup. Please reach out to us to coordinate.

Carrier will try to delivery a package up to three times before returning the package to us.

See here our shipping policy.

If you miss a delivery and a package gets returned to us we have two options:

1) Reship the package right away: due to the very high cost of shipping and returns, we must charge a re-shipping fee to be determined based on package size and shipping destination.

2) Consolidate the returned package with your next order: this option is free of charge and it's the most popular option.

See here our shipping policy.

It is our small, rotating set of serious, age-worthy bottles, chosen for provenance, balance, and the ability to improve with time. It mixes classic and natural wine side by side, from cult California and grower Champagne to benchmark Burgundy, Barolo, and low-intervention icons.

The Classic collection focuses on traditional benchmark appellations, while the Cellar Selection is a curated, in-stock-now shelf of standout bottles across both classic and natural, often held in very small quantities. There is overlap, but the Cellar Selection is more of a rotating top shelf.

Many are, though some are drinking beautifully now. These are bottles to lay down, open for a special meal, or give to someone who takes wine seriously. Product notes indicate which wines reward patience and which are ready to enjoy.

The wines here are often rare or made in tiny volumes, so we may have only a few bottles of each. The selection changes as bottles sell and new ones arrive, so it is worth checking back regularly.

Store bottles on their side in a cool, stable place away from light. Decant younger, structured reds ahead of time, and serve everything with food worthy of the occasion. Sparkling and white wines should be well chilled.

Yes. We ship to 45 states with careful, temperature-conscious packaging, which is especially important for age-worthy bottles. Options appear at checkout.
