Tasting notes

Centesimino is one of Italy's rarest grapes, and in this bottling its signature aromatics — red rose, violet, orange blossom, anise — come through clearly against a dry, low-tannin frame with a pomegranate-and-white-pepper bite. It is genuinely chillable and genuinely distinctive, not a style engineered for trendiness but the natural character of a grape that nearly disappeared entirely.

Sssupermoon Red is 100% Centesimino — also called Sauvignon Rosso — grown on the alluvial sand and gravel plains between Fusignano and Alfonsine in the province of Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna. The wine is produced under the Ravenna IGT designation. Centesimino is one of the rarest red grapes in Italy: nearly wiped out by phylloxera, it was saved in the mid-20th century by Pietro Pianori of Faenza, who found surviving vines in a walled garden that had shielded them from the epidemic. All existing vines descend from those cuttings. The grape was added to Italy's national register of varieties in 2004.

The Vinovore label is a collaboration between Cantina Randi and Coly Den Haan, the Los Angeles-based sommelier and owner of Vinovore, a wine shop specializing in natural wines made by women. Cantina Randi is a family estate founded in the late 1800s and now run by brothers Denis and Massimo Randi across roughly 63 hectares in the Romagna plains. The winery has been certified organic since 2021.

Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts. The wine ages for six months in stainless steel and is bottled unfiltered with low added sulfites. Centesimino naturally produces low-tannin, highly aromatic wines — the nose here leads with red rose petals, wild violets, and orange blossom, followed by mountain berries and anise. On the palate it is dry and light-bodied, with pomegranate acidity, white pepper, and a persistent herbal-cherry finish. Serve slightly chilled.

Serve chilled alongside charcuterie, fresh chevre, or a simple pasta with tomato and herbs. The grape's herbal, peppery character holds up well against bold-flavored antipasti and grilled vegetables. It also works as a low-intervention house red for pizza nights or casual sharing plates.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Randi for Vinovore

Cantina Randi was founded in the late 1800s by Luigi Randi and is currently operated by brothers Denis and Massimo Randi. The estate sits between the municipalities of Fusignano and Alfonsine in the Romagna plain, in the province of Ravenna. Denis manages the vineyards and technical production; Massimo handles commercial operations. The farm covers approximately 63 hectares planted to native Romagna varieties including Centesimino, Longanesi, Famoso, and Malbo Gentile, as well as Trebbiano, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Randi has been a certified organic producer since 2021. The estate joined the Il Bagnacavallo consortium in 1999 and launched its first Randi label in 2001. The Longanesi-based Burson wines are among Randi's best-known labels; the Famoso-based Rambela wines and the Centesimino bottlings represent the estate's focus on preserving rare indigenous varieties.

The Sssupermoon Red is produced under the Vinovore label, a collaboration between Randi and Coly Den Haan — Los Angeles sommelier and owner of Vinovore, a natural wine shop dedicated to women winemakers. The Vinovore collection uses spontaneous fermentation of indigenous grapes, minimal intervention in the cellar, no fining or filtration, and low added sulfites. The Centesimino is aged six months in stainless steel before bottling.

Wine region

Emilia-Romagna, Italy

Emilia-Romagna stretches from the Po Valley south to the Apennines and east to the Adriatic coast. The Romagna half — where Randi is located — sits on the coastal plain and lower foothills around Ravenna, Faenza, and Forlì. Soils in the flatlands are alluvial, composed of sand, gravel, and clay deposited by rivers flowing out of the Apennines. The climate is continental with warm summers and significant diurnal variation that supports natural acidity in the fruit.

The dominant red grape of Romagna is Sangiovese, sold under the Romagna DOC. Romagna Albana DOCG, established in 1986, was the first white wine to receive DOCG status in Italy. Alongside these, a handful of rare indigenous varieties survive in limited cultivation: Centesimino and Longanesi (the basis for the Burson wines) are both grown almost exclusively in the province of Ravenna. Centesimino is also permitted under the Emilia, Forlì, and Rubicone IGTs, but nearly all examples are sold as Ravenna IGT.
