Tasting notes

This is a direct-press, lightly sparkling blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling with zero tannins and lively natural carbonation — closer to a Perlwein than a still red. The nose delivers fresh strawberry, crushed raspberry, and floral lift with a salty-herbal edge that keeps every sip interesting.

Mehr Frauen? Ja Bitte! (More Women? Yes Please!) is Alanna Lagamba's second wine under her Vin de Lagamba label, made in 2019 from Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling grown in Rheinhessen, Germany. The grapes were direct-pressed and fermented spontaneously in used oak barrels, then blended at the 2020 harvest and bottled with a small addition of fresh must to generate a light natural carbonation. A splash of Dornfelder was added for its signature blush-red color. The wine is unfined, unfiltered, and produced with no added sulfites.

The title is a riff on the classic German anti-nuclear sticker slogan 'Atomkraft? Nein Danke,' rewritten as a feminist declaration. It is Alanna's more aromatic and delicate counterpart to her Frauen Power, dialing back the Dornfelder-driven intensity in favor of lighter, more floral energy with zero perceptible tannins. Serve well chilled and open carefully over a glass — the light carbonation is active.

The wine is vinified at Weingut Wörner in Flonheim, a hilly sub-area of Rheinhessen sometimes called 'the Switzerland of Rheinhessen.' Farming is organic. The loess and limestone soils around Flonheim give the wine a bright, snappy acidity that keeps the light berry fruit energetic.

Serve well chilled alongside charcuterie, soft fresh cheeses, or a simple tomato-based pasta. The zero-tannin structure and bright acidity also make it a natural match for lightly spiced dishes and flatbreads. It works just as well on its own at cellar temperature as an aperitif.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Vin de Lagamba

Alanna Lagamba is a Toronto-born winemaker who moved to Berlin after completing an art history degree, where she worked as a sommelier and encountered natural wine. At a wine fair in Berlin she met Martin Wörner, a winemaker who had returned to his family's vineyards in Flonheim, Rheinhessen after working with Tom Lubbe at Domaine Matassa in France. Alanna joined the 2018 harvest and moved to Flonheim in 2019.

Vin de Lagamba is Alanna's solo label, focused entirely on sparkling wines. She works from Weingut Wörner, the family estate that Martin Wörner now manages across approximately 10 hectares in Flonheim, and sources fruit from those same plots. Farming is organic with no added sulfites used at any stage of production. All wines are unfined and unfiltered.

Her debut wine, Frauen Power, drew on unused Dornfelder vines and was made in the style of a German Lambrusco using whole-cluster fermentation and the ancestral method. Mehr Frauen? Ja Bitte! takes a different approach: direct press of Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling, spontaneous fermentation in used oak, and bottling with fresh must for light effervescence. Alanna has described her focus as becoming a specialist in Rheinhessen sparkling wine, and the lineup has expanded to include a rosé Frauen Power, a traditional-method Cuvee Royale, and collaborations with other regional producers under the Powerglow project.

Wine region

Rheinhessen, Germany

Rheinhessen is Germany's largest wine-growing region, covering around 26,758 hectares in Rhineland-Palatinate on the left bank of the Rhine between Bingen, Mainz, and Worms. It sits in one of the warmest and driest parts of Central Europe, with around 1,600 hours of sunshine per year and average annual rainfall of only 550 millimeters. The region is shielded by the Taunus Hills to the north, the Oden Forest to the east, and the forested, hilly countryside to the west — an area locals call 'the Switzerland of Rheinhessen,' which includes the village of Flonheim where Vin de Lagamba is based.

Soils in Rheinhessen vary considerably across the region. Loess is the dominant soil type, often layered up to 15 meters deep, and retains water well across a range of varieties. Limestone and loam, frequently mixed with sand or gravel, are also widespread. In the Flonheim area, loess and limestone soils provide a firm acidic backbone for the wines. Riesling covers close to 20 percent of total vineyard area, but Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Dornfelder are all widely cultivated. Over the past decade a younger generation of producers in Rheinhessen has driven a shift toward organic farming and minimal-intervention winemaking, reshaping the region's reputation beyond the mass-market sweet wines it was once known for.
