The negroni is the drink the whole brand is named after, so this is the one to judge it on. Bittersweet, with juniper and bright citrus, and lightly sparkling, which a real negroni is not, but which keeps it lively without the alcohol.

Lapo's own word for it is molto bitter, and that is the right instinct. The failure mode of a zero-proof negroni is sweetness, and this does not fall into it.

The Brand

Lapo's

Lapo is a real person: a barman in a tuxedo who made the best bitter cocktails in the room, and who the founders liked enough to name the drinks after. Their own materials place him in two different Italian cities, so take the legend loosely and the drink seriously.

The range is Italian aperitivo translated to zero proof, and zero is literal here: nothing is fermented, so there is no alcohol to strip back out. Citrus Spritz is built on real citrus and herbs. Melograno Mule is a pomegranate and ginger mule made with real pomegranate juice and botanical extracts.

Useful when someone at the table is not drinking and you would rather not hand them a soda.
