Fermensch Hibiscus Ginger Kombucha, 12 oz

Price: $6.00

Fermensch is a family brewery in Orange County, started by a chef who had been fermenting at a vegan restaurant before he did it for a living. Everything is raw, traditionally fermented and made in small batches.

This one runs on a heavy dose of fresh-pressed organic ginger, balanced with hibiscus and lime. Tart and citrusy, with real heat from the ginger rather than a suggestion of it.

Organic throughout, and Fermensch publish the full ingredient list, which is rarer than it should be. 12 fl oz.

The Brand

Fermensch Kombucha

Fermensch is a small-batch brewery in Orange County, California, started in 2016 by Chad Huniu. He had been a line cook at a vegan restaurant in Costa Mesa, which is where he learned to ferment, and his father backed him when he decided to do it for a living. His wife Mykel named it, a play on ferment and mensch.

The kombucha is raw and traditionally fermented on organic green and black tea with a live culture, then flavoured with fresh-pressed organic produce and juice rather than with flavouring. The full ingredient list is published for every flavour.

The family still runs it, and the line they put on the can is be a mensch to your gut.

Pantry FAQs

Pantry items are fulfilled by our partner retailer in California, so they ship on their own and will not arrive in the same box as your wine. Order both and you should expect two parcels, often on different days.

You will receive tracking for the pantry parcel within 3-4 business days.

Wine requires an adult signature on delivery. Pantry items do not, so they can be left at your door like any ordinary parcel.

Yes. Nothing here is tied to a wine purchase. Shipping for pantry items is calculated separately at checkout.

Most of what we carry is shelf stable until it is opened, and would rather sit in a cool dark cupboard than on a sunny counter. Anything that needs refrigerating once opened says so on the label.

Email us with your order number and a photo of the problem and we will make it right.

These are things we actually cook with, picked by the same people who pick the wine. A good bottle tends to want something on the table next to it, and this is the shortlist we would hand a friend who asked.
