La Tourangelle Roasted Walnut Oil, 250 ml

Price: $16.00

Walnut oil is the one the company was built on. The mill dates to 1867 in Bourgueil, in the Loire Valley, where small mills pressed the local nuts for centuries, and this is that method rebuilt in California.

California walnuts, slowly roasted and expeller-pressed. Rich, delicate and nutty, as the tin has it, and fragile enough that heat is mostly a waste of it.

Non-GMO Project Verified, made in California. 8.45 fl oz (250 ml).

The Brand

La Tourangelle

The mill was born in 1867 in Bourgueil, in the Loire Valley, one of the last survivors of the small oil mills that once lined the river pressing local nuts and seeds. In 2002 Matthieu, the second son, moved to California to rebuild it.

He had the presses custom made rather than bought, so the method came with him, and had the American crew trained by a French master miller. Nuts are roasted by hand in cast iron kettles, mechanically pressed and only lightly filtered.

The mill is in Woodland, California, on twenty-eight acres with ten thousand olive trees and a solar farm. The tins are the other thing they are known for.

Pantry FAQs

Pantry items are fulfilled by our partner retailer in California, so they ship on their own and will not arrive in the same box as your wine. Order both and you should expect two parcels, often on different days.

You will receive tracking for the pantry parcel within 3-4 business days.

Wine requires an adult signature on delivery. Pantry items do not, so they can be left at your door like any ordinary parcel.

Yes. Nothing here is tied to a wine purchase. Shipping for pantry items is calculated separately at checkout.

Most of what we carry is shelf stable until it is opened, and would rather sit in a cool dark cupboard than on a sunny counter. Anything that needs refrigerating once opened says so on the label.

Email us with your order number and a photo of the problem and we will make it right.

These are things we actually cook with, picked by the same people who pick the wine. A good bottle tends to want something on the table next to it, and this is the shortlist we would hand a friend who asked.
