Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Field Recordings

Field Recordings was founded by Andrew Jones in Paso Robles in 2007 and operates out of Tin City, a small-production winery district on the southern edge of the city. Before starting the label, Jones worked as a fieldman for a Central Coast vine nursery, a role that gave him direct access to dozens of growers and vineyard sites across the region. That background shapes how Field Recordings still operates: rather than farming a single estate, Jones sources from approximately 28 ranches covering around 120 acres of organically and sustainably certified vineyards, building long-term relationships with growers committed to low-intervention farming.

The winemaking approach is consistent across the portfolio. Fermentations are carried out with native yeasts; neutral vessels preserve fruit character without imposing oak influence; sulfite additions are kept minimal or omitted entirely. The team numbers around 12 people, and the spirit of the label leans deliberately toward accessibility, drinkability, and range. The lineup includes both single-vineyard, small-batch wines aimed at collectors and a broader range of everyday bottles built explicitly for the table.

The Field Recordings catalog reflects a genuine interest in variety and experimentation. The Skins Orange Wine is a multi-variety skin-contact white that changes blend composition each vintage. The Fiction Red is a Paso Robles blend built for everyday drinking. The Freddo Sangiovese applies the same chillable red concept to Italian varieties grown on Central Coast soil. The So Far Out Chillable Red uses a Nebbiolo and Charbono blend fermented with partial carbonic maceration. Pizza Nights fits naturally alongside this group: a Gamay built not for the cellar but for the table, ready to drink the moment it's chilled.

Wine region

California, United States

The California Central Coast AVA stretches roughly 250 miles along the Pacific between San Francisco and Santa Barbara, encompassing a chain of sub-appellations that rank among the most diverse wine-growing areas in the United States. The region includes Monterey, Santa Cruz Mountains, Edna Valley, Santa Barbara County, and Paso Robles, each shaped by the Pacific Ocean's influence channeled through gaps in the coastal mountain ranges. This marine access is the defining factor: fog and cool afternoon winds moderate temperatures that would otherwise push grapes toward overripeness, preserving the kind of acidity and freshness that makes varieties like Gamay Noir work at this latitude.

Paso Robles, where Field Recordings is based, covers approximately 614,000 acres in San Luis Obispo County and was divided into 11 distinct sub-appellations in 2014, reflecting the significant variation in soils and climate from west to east. The western side, influenced by the Templeton Gap, a natural break in the Santa Lucia Range that funnels cool Pacific air inland, supports the lighter-bodied, higher-acid styles that define Field Recordings' chillable red program. Calcareous soils rich in limestone and calcium characterize much of the Paso Robles plateau, delivering wines with structure and mineral definition.

The Tin City district of Paso Robles has become a focal point for California's natural wine movement over the past decade. A cluster of small-production wineries, cideries, and craft producers operates from this former industrial corridor, forming a tasting room hub that draws visitors and trade attention from across the country. Field Recordings has been part of Tin City since its early days, contributing to its identity as a destination for low-intervention, variety-driven California wine.
