Algae Cooking Club Chef-Grade Everything Oil, 16 fl oz

Not a seed, not a fruit. This oil is pressed out of microalgae grown by fermentation, which takes about three days, and it is the first microalgae fat to reach the American market.
The case for it is arithmetic. A 535F smoke point, higher than avocado oil, and 93% omega-9 monounsaturated fat against 3% omega-6. The bottle's own tasting notes are light, lil' buttery and neutral, which is what you want from the oil you cook everything in.
16 fl oz (473 ml).
A neutral high-heat oil with a 535F smoke point, so it does the jobs that usually cost you either flavour or a smoking pan. It is faintly buttery rather than truly flavourless, which shows up most in baking.
Searing and shallow frying, where a 535F smoke point is the entire point
Roasting vegetables at the temperature you actually wanted to use
Baking, where the light buttery note works in its favour
Mayonnaise and dressings that should taste of the other ingredients
Anywhere a recipe says vegetable or canola oil

The Brand
Algae Cooking Club
Algae Cooking Club makes cooking oil out of microalgae rather than out of a seed or a fruit. The algae are fermented, which takes about three days, and the fat is pressed out of them. It is the first microalgae fat to reach the American market.
The numbers are the argument: a 535F smoke point, higher than avocado oil, and 93% omega-9 monounsaturated fat against 3% omega-6. It sits where a neutral high-heat oil sits, without being a seed oil, which is the whole reason the company exists.
Founded in 2023. Daniel Humm, of the three-Michelin-star Eleven Madison Park, tested it in his own kitchen and then joined as culinary officer.
Pantry FAQs
Will this ship with my wine?
No, pantry items travel separately.
Pantry items are fulfilled by our partner retailer in California, so they ship on their own and will not arrive in the same box as your wine. Order both and you should expect two parcels, often on different days.
You will receive tracking for the pantry parcel within 3-4 business days.
Do I need to sign for the delivery?
No. Unlike wine, food does not need a signature.
Wine requires an adult signature on delivery. Pantry items do not, so they can be left at your door like any ordinary parcel.
Can I order pantry items on their own, without wine?
Yes, a pantry order stands on its own.
Yes. Nothing here is tied to a wine purchase. Shipping for pantry items is calculated separately at checkout.
How should I store it?
Check the label first.
Most of what we carry is shelf stable until it is opened, and would rather sit in a cool dark cupboard than on a sunny counter. Anything that needs refrigerating once opened says so on the label.
Something arrived damaged or wrong. What now?
Get in touch and we will sort it out.
Email us with your order number and a photo of the problem and we will make it right.
Why does a natural wine shop sell pantry items?
Because the bottle is rarely the whole evening.
These are things we actually cook with, picked by the same people who pick the wine. A good bottle tends to want something on the table next to it, and this is the shortlist we would hand a friend who asked.
