Sarnin-Berrux

Sarnin-Berrux, established by Jean-Pascal Sarnin and Jean-Marie Berrux, is a wine house in Burgundy, France, emphasizing sustainable development and environmental respect. They are dedicated to producing high-quality, natural, and lively wines. The grapes used in their wines are sourced from organic winegrowers, ensuring a commitment to natural and sustainable practices. The winemaking at Sarnin-Berrux blends traditional and ancestral methods with modern technology. This approach respects the grapes, minimizes handling, and follows a path of minimal intervention. They avoid using oenological products, except for a small dose of sulfites before bottling. The pressing of the grapes is carried out in a long and progressive manner using a pneumatic press to preserve the grapes' qualities. They also make their winemaking decisions according to the lunar calendar of M. & M. Thun, adding a unique aspect to their process. Their red wine process includes several weeks in tapered wooden vats. It often involves a cold maceration of the whole-bunch harvest before the natural start of fermentation by indigenous yeasts. For the white wines, after pressing, they allow the wine to settle naturally, and the alcoholic fermentation can take from one to six months. Sarnin-Berrux is known for its diverse wine offerings, such as its Beaujolais "Le Bojo Sutra," made from Gamay grapes hand-harvested from Regnie with granite soil. These wines are organic and biodynamic, are produced using quick carbonic maceration, and are unfined and unfiltered. Overall, Sarnin-Berrux stands out for its commitment to producing natural wines with a deep respect for the grapes and the environment.
