Agnès et René Mosse

Domaine Mosse was founded in 1999 by Agnès and René Mosse in the commune of Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay. Prior to establishing their estate, Agnès and René Mosse trained in viticulture and oenology at the Lycée d’Amboise between 1995 and 1996. Today, the estate spans 15.60 hectares of vineyards in this Loire Valley location. Joseph and Sylvestre Mosse officially took over the domaine in 2018, managing the estate and overseeing wine production across all of their vineyard parcels.

Farming at Domaine Mosse follows organic methods across all plots. The estate vineyards feature soils composed of schist, sandstone, and clay, planted at a density of 5500 plants per hectare. Vines range in age from 25 to 30 years old. Grape varieties planted across the property include Chenin, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Grolleau Noir, Grolleau Gris, Chardonnay, Savagnin, and Pinot Meunier. Vineyard practice relies on Guyot pruning, organic cultivation, and a manual harvest with sorting of the grapes.

In the cellar, Domaine Mosse utilizes vinification vessels that include both tank and fût. Grapes brought in from the manual harvest with sorting are processed according to the style of each wine, including direct slow pressing without cuvaison. The estate keeps sulfur additions minimal during production, resulting in finished wines with 20mg/L total sulfur dioxide. These cellar practices allow the fruit from vines grown on schist, sandstone, and clay to remain at the forefront.
