Tasting notes

The 2020 warm vintage pushed the fruit toward dark cherry and wild strawberry while whole-bunch fermentation adds a peppery, slightly earthy lift from the stems. In a 1-liter bottle, it's built for the table rather than the cellar — high-acid, low-tannin Gamay that disappears fast.

Tutti Frutti is a 100% Gamay from Raphaël Beysang and Emélie Hurtubise's organically farmed vineyards in Saint-Germain-Nuelles, in the southern Beaujolais subzone known as the Pierres Dorées. The soils here are clay and limestone threaded with the iron-oxide-rich golden stone the area is named for, sitting at around 320 meters elevation on the northwestern outskirts of Lyon.

2020 was a warm year in Beaujolais, producing wines with darker red fruit, more flesh and body than cooler vintages. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts using whole-bunch maceration. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no added sulfites — what the producers call zero-zero winemaking.

Bottled in a 1-liter format, Tutti Frutti is Beysang's most approachable, fruit-driven cuvée. It comes from sandier parcels within the estate, producing wines with higher aromatic intensity and lower structural tension than their single-site bottlings. Expect vibrant berry fruit, a hint of earth from the stalks, and a loose-limbed texture typical of the southern Beaujolais style.

Serve slightly chilled alongside charcuterie, saucisson, or roast chicken. The low tannins and bright acidity work well with fatty, salty foods. Also good with lentil dishes or a simple tomato-based pasta.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Rapahel Beysang

Raphaël Beysang was born in Châtenois, Alsace, the son of hotel and restaurant owners. He studied viticulture in Obernai before working for Patrick Meyer in Nothalten — where he was first exposed to natural winemaking — and then with Jean-Marc Dreyer in Rosheim, who remains a close friend and collaborator. He later moved to the Auvergne to work with Vincent Marie of No Control and Patrick Bouju. It was at Bouju's cellar that he met Émélie Hurtubise, a Québécoise who had arrived for her own internship in 2016.

Beysang moved to Saint-Germain-Nuelles in 2017 after being offered vineyards there through his Auvergne contacts; Hurtubise followed in 2018 and together they established Lapins des Vignes. They farm around 7 hectares of Gamay organically, with no synthetic herbicides or fungicides. Vineyard treatments are limited to copper, volcanic sulfur, and herbal preparations including nettle, horsetail, comfrey, and willow decoctions drawn from biodynamic practice. Some parcels are worked by horse.

In the cellar, Beysang and Hurtubise practice zero-zero winemaking: no additives, no fining, no filtration, and no added sulfur at any stage. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented as whole bunches with spontaneous native yeast fermentation. Aging takes place in large neutral wooden foudres. The terroir across their holdings varies considerably — some parcels are on sandier soils, others on clay-limestone or nearly pure limestone — and the cuvées are shaped accordingly.

Wine region

Beaujolais, France

Beaujolais sits between the southern tip of Burgundy and the northern outskirts of Lyon, stretching roughly 55 kilometers north to south. The region is planted almost exclusively with Gamay. Soils shift significantly from north to south: the ten Crus in the north sit on granite and schist, while the southern zone — including the Beaujolais AOC and Beaujolais-Villages appellations — transitions to sedimentary geology dominated by clay, limestone, and the iron-rich golden limestone known as Pierres Dorées.

Saint-Germain-Nuelles sits in the southernmost part of Beaujolais, in the Pierres Dorées subzone at around 320 meters elevation. Wines from this area qualify as Beaujolais AOC or Vin de France rather than a named Cru. The three main Beaujolais classifications are Beaujolais AOC, Beaujolais-Villages AOC (from 38 designated communes), and the ten Crus — Brouilly, Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Chénas, Chiroubles, Juliénas, Saint-Amour, Régnié, and Côte de Brouilly — which produce the most age-worthy wines in the region.
