Sete Vino Rosso 2021

Why we like it

I like this wine because it's fruity and very fresh with bright red berry flavors and lively acidity. Serve at 60-65°F without decanting to preserve its natural vibrancy and youthful character from this organic, unfiltered expression of Lazio terroir.

LIGHT BODYFULL BODY
Description

Sete Vino Rosso is a natural wine from Lazio, Italy, crafted by winemakers Emiliano Giorgi and Arcangelo Galuppi from their organic vineyards in Priverno. Made from a blend of local red grapes including Sangiovese and other indigenous varieties, the wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and five days of skin maceration. Produced without added sulfites using low-intervention winemaking techniques, the wine ages in stainless steel tanks on the lees, reflecting the volcanic terroir of the Amaseno River Valley with 11.5% alcohol content.

Tasting notes

Light ruby red color with translucent clarity. The nose reveals fresh red berries, wild strawberry, and subtle herbal notes. Medium-light body delivers juicy red fruit flavors with bright acidity, refined tannins, and a clean, mineral-driven finish reflecting the volcanic soils of southern Lazio.

Food pairings

Excellent with pasta, pizza, and antipasti. Pairs beautifully with pasta all'arrabbiata, the classic Italian spicy tomato sauce dish from central Italy.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package gets returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee to be determined based on shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive, we are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to re-route a package after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancelling fee – the amount depends on how big the order is. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat/frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. please let us know should you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Producer profile

Sete Vini Naturali

Sete Vini Naturali is located in Priverno, a tiny village near the Circeo Natural Park in the Province of Latina, Lazio, Central Italy. Sete is a social, cultural, and agricultural project aiming at rescuing old and abandoned vineyards in the Amaseno River Valley. The project was started by two young friends, Emiliano and Arcangelo, who decided to make wine from these long-abandoned vineyards, vinifying each plot separately. Everything is done by hand in the vineyards and the cellar; winemaking is natural, and no sulfites are added. All of the Sete wines are unfined and unfiltered, very, very natural wines.

Wine region

Lazio, Italy

Lazio, known in Latin as Latium, is a central Italian wine region surrounding Rome that encompasses 17,200 square kilometers and represents one of Italy's most historically significant viticultural areas. The region borders Tuscany to the north, Campania to the south, and Umbria and Abruzzo to the east, with the Tyrrhenian Sea forming its western boundary.

The region's winemaking heritage dates back to Etruscan times, with the Romans later establishing Lazio as a major wine-producing area. Ancient Romans cultivated the famous Falernian wine along the border of Lazio and Campania, demonstrating the region's longstanding viticultural importance. Today, Lazio produces approximately 2.5 million hectoliters of wine annually across 47,000 hectares of vineyards.

Lazio's terrain consists primarily of volcanic hills, with Rome famously built on the "Seven Hills." The volcanic soils, rich in potassium and well-drained, create ideal conditions for viticulture. The region benefits from a Mediterranean climate influenced by sea breezes from the Tyrrhenian coast, while the Apennine Mountains provide eastern protection. These conditions result in mild temperatures and good vineyard aeration.

The region maintains 27 DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) designations and 3 DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) classifications. Cesanese del Piglio represents Lazio's only DOCG designation, showcasing the indigenous Cesanese grape variety.

White wines dominate Lazio's production, representing approximately 85% of total output. The primary white grape varieties include Malvasia di Candia, Malvasia Puntinata, and Trebbiano, which form the backbone of famous wines like Frascati and Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone. Other notable white varieties include Bellone, Bombino Bianco, and Grechetto.

Red wine production focuses on both international and indigenous varieties. Sangiovese serves as the most planted red grape, followed by indigenous varieties like Cesanese, Nero Buono di Cori, and Aleatico. International varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon also thrive in the region's volcanic soils.

Key wine-producing areas include the Castelli Romani hills southeast of Rome, the Monti Lepini mountains, and the volcanic Lake Bolsena region. The Amaseno River Valley has gained recognition for natural wine production, with several producers focusing on organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking techniques.

Modern Lazio winemaking emphasizes both traditional appellations and innovative natural wine production, positioning the region as an important contributor to Italy's diverse wine landscape.
