Groundwork Ethiopia Light Roast Coffee Beans, 12 oz

Price: $18.00

Single origin Ethiopian from heirloom varieties, roasted light so the florals and citrus survive. Roasting Ethiopia dark is a way of throwing away what you paid for.

USDA Organic, certified by CCOF, which for Groundwork is not a recent decision: they were among the first certified organic roasters in Southern California, back in 1994.

12 oz whole bean.

The Brand

Groundwork Coffee

Groundwork began in 1990 as a rare book shop with a coffee roaster in it, on Rose Avenue in Venice. The building was turn-of-the-century brick with a horse stable attached, built for LA's carriage trade, and the first roaster went in under an old catering oven hood.

By 1994 they were one of the first certified organic coffee roasters in Southern California, which at the time was closer to an eccentricity than a market position.

Demand meant roasting around the clock out of a tiny Venice cafe. Thirty-odd years on there are cafes along the West Coast and roasteries in Los Angeles and Portland, and the coffee is still organic.

Pantry FAQs

Pantry items are fulfilled by our partner retailer in California, so they ship on their own and will not arrive in the same box as your wine. Order both and you should expect two parcels, often on different days.

You will receive tracking for the pantry parcel within 3-4 business days.

Wine requires an adult signature on delivery. Pantry items do not, so they can be left at your door like any ordinary parcel.

Yes. Nothing here is tied to a wine purchase. Shipping for pantry items is calculated separately at checkout.

Most of what we carry is shelf stable until it is opened, and would rather sit in a cool dark cupboard than on a sunny counter. Anything that needs refrigerating once opened says so on the label.

Email us with your order number and a photo of the problem and we will make it right.

These are things we actually cook with, picked by the same people who pick the wine. A good bottle tends to want something on the table next to it, and this is the shortlist we would hand a friend who asked.
