Product description

Prisinzano Costa d'Amalfi Rosso DOP 2024 is a dry red wine from the organically farmed estate of Frank Prisinzano on the Amalfi Coast, Campania. Following the Costa d'Amalfi DOP red wine requirements, it is based on Piedirosso (locally known as Pèr e Palummo) and Aglianico, the two principal indigenous red varieties of the region. The winemaker is legendary Bruno de Conciliis. All grapes are hand-harvested — the terrain makes mechanical harvesting impossible. Produced by Prisinzano on a 14-acre estate purchased in 2022, this is among the property's first releases.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Prisinzano

Prisinzano is the food and farming project of Frank Prisinzano, the New York chef and restaurateur behind the Frank Restaurant Group, whose three Lower East Side and East Village restaurants — Frank, Lil' Frankies, and Supper — have been neighborhood staples for more than two decades. Frank's cooking is defined by simplicity and ingredient quality, and the Prisinzano project on the Amalfi Coast extends those same values directly into farming and production.

In 2022, Frank purchased an 822-year-old palazzo with 14 acres of terraced farmland on the Amalfi Coast, setting in motion a long-term project that will eventually include a hotel, a winery, and a cooking school. The estate's entire team is local to the Amalfi Coast, bringing deep, generational knowledge of the land, its vines, its olive trees, and its rhythms. All farming is organic. Nothing produced under the Prisinzano name is sourced from outside the estate.

The land is farmed as it has been for centuries on this coast: by hand, on terraced slopes accessible only on foot. The vines are indigenous to the region — for the reds, Piedirosso and Aglianico — grown without synthetic inputs of any kind. The product range spans wine, olive oil, preserved lemons, tomatoes, and other kitchen essentials, all farmed, harvested, and bottled on site. Frank has framed the project as an extension of his culinary philosophy: direct, unadorned, and grounded in the specific character of a place.

The Prisinzano Costa d'Amalfi Rosso DOP 2024 is among the estate's earliest wine releases, produced from the same terraced vineyards that the local team has tended since well before Frank's arrival, now farmed under his ownership with the same organic commitment and respect for the land that defines everything he does.

Wine region

Campania, Italy

The Costa d'Amalfi DOP stretches along the southern Campanian coastline from Positano east to Vietri sul Mare, within the province of Salerno. Established in 1995, it is among Italy's most physically challenging wine zones. Vineyards are carved into near-vertical cliff faces and steep hillsides above the Tyrrhenian Sea, terraced over centuries with dry-stone retaining walls. Elevations run from just above sea level to roughly 2,300 feet, with the full range of altitude creating markedly different growing conditions across the appellation.

All vineyard work is done by hand. The slopes rule out any mechanical equipment, and harvested fruit is still carried down in baskets along stone staircases — the same method used here for generations. This labor-intensive model is described as viticultura eroica, a term applied across Italy to vineyards with gradients above 30 percent where mechanization is structurally impossible. The Costa d'Amalfi is one of the most concentrated examples of this type of viticulture in the country.

The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers, mild winters, and rainfall concentrated in autumn and winter. Sea breezes moderate temperatures throughout the growing season and significantly limit humidity-related disease pressure, allowing producers to farm with minimal chemical intervention. The soils are primarily calcareous limestone and volcanic tuff, the latter a legacy of the ancient volcanic geology connecting this coastline to the greater Campanian volcanic system including Vesuvius.

For red wines, Piedirosso and Aglianico are the defining varieties. Piedirosso, locally called Pèr e Palummo, is Campania's most widely planted red grape after Aglianico, producing wines with floral aromatics, bright red fruit, and naturally soft tannins. Aglianico, the more structured of the two, adds depth, grip, and the variety's characteristic savory, spiced character. Together they produce reds that are lively and mineral rather than heavy and extracted.
