Product description

No Control Les Crosses 2022 is a natural white wine crafted by Vincent Marie in Volvic, within the Puy-de-Dôme department of Auvergne, France. This cuvée blends approximately 80% Chardonnay with Sauvignon Blanc, Sylvaner, and Auxerrois, all grown on volcanic feldspathic sand soils. The vineyard takes its name from the horsetail plants that grow there, bending in the wind like a bishop's crozier. No Control Les Crosses 2022 undergoes direct pressing followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Vincent Marie ages the wine in stainless steel tanks without filtration, fining, or added sulfites.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

No Control

Vincent Marie founded Domaine No Control in 2013 after abandoning a career in sports marketing. His path into wine began in 2003 when he first tasted natural wines and found himself increasingly drawn to their authenticity. He earned his viticulture diploma in Alsace, training alongside two of the region's most respected natural vignerons: Patrick Meyer and Bruno Schueller. The work of Patrick Bouju in Auvergne ultimately convinced Vincent to establish his own project on the volcanic soils of Volvic.

The estate covers approximately five hectares in the northern Puy-de-Dôme, with vines ranging from 5 to 120 years old. Vincent works a diverse portfolio of grape varieties—Gamay d'Auvergne, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Sylvaner, and Auxerrois—across parcels with distinct volcanic profiles including granite, basalt, and pink volcanic bedrock. The vineyards are farmed organically using biodynamic preparations, with plowing done by hand or with horses to preserve soil life.

In the cellar, Vincent follows a zero-input philosophy. Fermentation relies entirely on indigenous yeasts without temperature control. Wines age in stainless steel tanks, fiberglass vats, or neutral oak depending on the cuvée. Nothing is added—no sulfites, no fining agents, no enzymes—and nothing is removed through filtration. The cuvée names reflect Vincent's passion for rock music: Magma Rock, Tournoël Riot, Rockaille Billy, and Incendie & Pillage all nod to the energy and rebellion that define both punk rock and natural winemaking.

Wine region

Auvergne, France

Auvergne occupies the heart of France's Massif Central, a rugged highland shaped by millions of years of volcanic activity. The Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO-designated chain of 80 dormant volcanoes, dominates the landscape west of Clermont-Ferrand. This geological heritage defines the region's winemaking identity—vineyards grow on basalt, granite, feldspathic sand, and the distinctive pépérite soils where ancient lava met limestone sediments.

The Puy-de-Dôme department anchors Auvergne's viticulture. Vines have grown here since Roman times, and by the 19th century, Auvergne ranked among France's largest wine-producing regions. Phylloxera and industrialization devastated those vineyards, but a new generation of vignerons has revived the area's potential, particularly through natural winemaking. The Côtes d'Auvergne received AOC recognition in 2010, validating decades of quality-focused efforts.

Climate here blends continental and oceanic influences. Cold winters and warm summers are moderated by altitude—many vineyards sit between 350 and 600 meters elevation. Significant day-to-night temperature swings preserve acidity and develop aromatic complexity in the grapes. The Chaîne des Puys shields vineyards from excessive Atlantic rainfall, creating drier conditions that favor organic viticulture.

Gamay d'Auvergne, a local clone distinct from its Beaujolais cousin, dominates red wine production. Its later ripening maintains freshness even in warm vintages. Pinot Noir performs well in cooler sites, while Chardonnay produces whites with pronounced minerality reflecting the volcanic terroir. These wines share a characteristic peppery spice and stony edge that distinguishes them from neighboring regions.
