Bicycle has roasted specialty grade arabica in Oakland since 2009, and delivers around town by bike, on trailers they build themselves.

This is the dark end of their range: the bag says dark roast and nothing else, no origin, no notes. Dark roasting flattens origin character on purpose and puts body and bittersweetness in its place, which is exactly what some people want from a morning cup.

The bag is compostable, made from plants. 12 oz, whole bean.

The Brand

Bicycle Coffee Co

Bicycle has been roasting specialty grade arabica in Oakland since 2009. It was started by a group of brothers, a cousin and a friend after a backpacking trip through Central America, where they spent months visiting cooperatives and meeting the people growing the coffee.

The name is literal. They deliver locally by bicycle and build their own bike trailers to do it, which is a slower way to run a wholesale route and an entirely deliberate one.

Pantry FAQs

Pantry items are fulfilled by our partner retailer in California, so they ship on their own and will not arrive in the same box as your wine. Order both and you should expect two parcels, often on different days.

You will receive tracking for the pantry parcel within 3-4 business days.

Wine requires an adult signature on delivery. Pantry items do not, so they can be left at your door like any ordinary parcel.

Yes. Nothing here is tied to a wine purchase. Shipping for pantry items is calculated separately at checkout.

Most of what we carry is shelf stable until it is opened, and would rather sit in a cool dark cupboard than on a sunny counter. Anything that needs refrigerating once opened says so on the label.
