De la Soif

Deux Punx winemakers Dan Schaaf and Aaron Olson, who make the De la Soif wines

De la Soif is a California natural wine label built for easy, joyful drinking. It is a collaboration between Deux Punx, the Napa-based project of ex-punks Dan Schaaf and Aaron Olson, and the natural wine importer Merchants of Thirst. The name nods to the French idea of a vin de soif, a wine to quench a thirst.

The People

Dan Schaaf and Aaron Olson founded Deux Punx in April 2008. They work out of Punk Dog Wineries, a shared space in Napa's River East neighborhood that suits their minimalist, experimental approach. De la Soif channels that same spirit into approachable bottlings.

Vineyards and Farming

The wines are made from organically farmed grapes grown in California.

Winemaking

In keeping with the Deux Punx method, the wines are made with minimal intervention: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, ambient temperatures, neutral oak, and only minimal sulfur additions. The goal is to let the raw material from the vineyard shine.

The Wines

The line includes a skin-contact De la Soif Orange and a juicy De la Soif Red, both made to be poured generously rather than studied.
