Tasting notes

Rózsa Libre! delivers strawberry, raspberry, lemon zest, and watermelon notes on a bone-dry, light-bodied frame with saline mineral lift — all at 11% ABV. That combination of genuine dryness, bright acidity, and low alcohol makes it one of the most sessionable natural rosés from Austria.

Rózsa Libre! is a dry rosé made from 80% Zweigelt and 20% St. Laurent, sourced from biodynamically farmed vineyards on the north shore of Lake Neusiedl in the village of Gols, Burgenland. Grapes grow in sandy loam and limestone soils under a Pannonian continental climate with roughly 2,000 hours of sunshine annually. The lake's thermal mass moderates overnight temperatures, preserving the bright acidity and cool fruit character that define this wine.

Vinification is direct press into stainless steel, where spontaneous fermentation with ambient yeasts takes place. The wine ages for approximately five months in stainless steel before bottling. No fining, no filtration, and minimal to zero added sulfur dioxide — consistent with Preisinger's low-intervention approach across his entire range.

Rózsa shares the same Zweigelt and St. Laurent blend as the Puszta Libre! red, but the far shorter skin contact produces a pale, fresh rosé rather than a red. The result sits at around 11% ABV: light on its feet, dry, and built for immediate drinking.

Rózsa Libre! carries biodynamic certification through the Respekt-BIODYN association, an independent body based in Burgenland that requires full biodynamic farming and annual audits of member estates.

Pairs well with grilled shellfish, light pork dishes, and grain-based salads. The wine's saline minerality and bright acidity also work with fresh goat cheese and herb-forward dishes. Serve well-chilled at around 45-48°F.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Claus Preisinger

Claus Preisinger was born in 1980 in Eisenstadt, Burgenland. After completing viticultural training at the Klosterneuburg wine school, he worked harvests in California and then spent three years as a winemaker with Hans and Anita Nittnaus. He launched his own label in 2002, working initially with his father at the family estate in Gols on the north shore of Lake Neusiedl. In 2004, at age 24, he became the youngest member accepted into the Pannobile association — a group of Burgenland producers committed to expressing regional terroir through indigenous grape varieties.

Preisinger converted his vineyards to biodynamic farming in 2006 and holds certification through Respekt-BIODYN, an independent biodynamic certification body based in Burgenland with strict annual auditing. He farms around 40 hectares spread across vineyards in the villages of Gols, Weiden, Mönchhof, and Purbach. Soils across these parcels range from sandy loam and gravel to limestone and flint. Biodynamic compost — produced from cattle and horse manure — is used in place of synthetic fertilizers, and homeopathic preparations are applied in the vineyard following Rudolf Steiner's principles.

In the cellar, Preisinger has used ambient yeasts exclusively since 2002. He adds little to no sulfur dioxide and does not fine or filter any of his wines. For his entry-level range — which includes Rózsa Libre! — fermentation and aging both take place in stainless steel. For some of his single-vineyard and premium wines, he uses amphora, which he describes as a way to reduce intervention while preserving freshness without chemistry or technology. His winery, built new in 2009, is sited within the vineyards on the outskirts of Gols.

Wine region

Burgenland, Austria

Neusiedlersee sits on the eastern and northern shores of Lake Neusiedl in the Austrian state of Burgenland, about 30 miles southeast of Vienna and along the Hungarian border. The region covers approximately 6,700 hectares under vine and falls within the Pannonian climate zone, characterized by hot, dry summers and cold winters, averaging around 2,000 hours of sunshine annually. Lake Neusiedl — 36 km long, between 6 and 12 km wide, and averaging just one meter in depth — acts as a thermal reservoir, storing solar heat during the day and releasing it at night to moderate growing-season temperatures. This slight nocturnal cooling preserves acidity and cool-fruit character in the grapes.

The soils of the Neusiedlersee are varied: sandy loam, gravel, quartz-rich silty soils, and limestone dominate across the flat terrain of the Heideboden and Parndorf Plain, with fine ancient Pannonian lake sediments underlying many vineyard sites. The Neusiedlersee DAC designation was established for Zweigelt-based dry red wines beginning with the 2011 vintage and covers the political district of Neusiedl am See. Zweigelt is the anchor red variety, with St. Laurent, Blaufränkisch, and Grüner Veltliner also widely planted. Key wine villages in the region include Gols, Illmitz, Mönchhof, Weiden, and Podersdorf am See.
