Product Description

The Wine: Free Your Mind 2020

Wonderwerk Free Your Mind is a red natural wine made from a blend of 50% Carignan from Sandy Lane Vineyard (Contra Costa County AVA), and 50% Riesling from Zabala Vineyard (Arroyo Seco AVA) farmed sustainably.

Carignan was picked at 20.6° brix on august 18. Whole clusters underwent 2 weeks of carbonic maceration before being pressed to tank and fermented nearly dry. Riesling was harvested at 20.4° Brix on September 3, de-stemmed, and fermented on the skins with twice daily pump-overs and occasional punch-downs. At approximately 1/3 Brix depletion, Riesling pump-overs were instead conducted with pressed carbonic carignan, yielding a red riesling fermentation cap. The pressed carbonic Carignan was integrated into the Free Your Mind cuveê over the course of one week. Once dry, the wine was pressed to stainless steel tank, where it underwent malolactic fermentation. Produced without fining or filtration, with 30 ppm sulfur (kmbs) added at bottling.

The Producer: Wonderwerk

Wonderwerk (House of Fermentation) is Issamu Kamide and Andrew Lardy, two high school friends from Virginia seeking new directions in fermentation. We live in LA (Echo Park!) and make supernatural wines from all over California. We produce and bottle with our own hands and feet. We ride the wavelength from low-intervention to high-innovation, making collaborative ideas come to life in funky new ways. Wonderwerk began as a long night on a disco dancefloor (Despacio!) wound down and we didn’t want the party to end. Now, it’s flowed from there into the wines you see and drink today. Come along for the ride fam, bring your dancing shoes and an open mind, we promise we won’t disappoint.

Shipping & Returns

Stress Free Shipping

At Primal Wine we like to be transparent about everything we do. When it comes to buying products online, shipping is the most important aspect, and that’s why we take great care in shipping and handling your order using only 100% recycled packaging material.

Re-shipping

If a package gets returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee. Shipping wine is extremely expensive, we are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

Important Compliance Requirements

UPS and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older.

Important COVID Update

UPS and FedEx declared that in order to protect their workers and customers, they no longer require a signature on delivery. This does not mean they will drop a wine box at your door. UPS delivery workers will make sure the person receiving the wine is 21 years or older, and will ask for his/her name - only then do they deliver the package.

Shipping Rates and Options

An important premise: wine bottles are heavy – about 3 pounds each – and shipping is expensive! Primal Wine is not backed by venture capital money – we proudly are a mom and pop independent online store – and we must charge shipping on all orders, otherwise we wouldn’t be in business. However, we try our best to offer you very competitive shipping rates.

Return Policy

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us at (424) 414-2040 or via e-mail at hello@primalwine.com between 9 am and 5 pm Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Sunday, we would like to understand and try to solve your concerns.

We may make arrangements for a return and refund if appropriate, and only after we receive unopened products back to our warehouse.
