Tasting notes

This rosé pulls off something unusual: blending all three Grenache mutations from a single vineyard produces a wine with the juicy red-fruit snap of Garnacha Negra, the floral lift of Garnacha Gris, and the saline, stony edge of Garnacha Blanca simultaneously. Six months on fine lees gives it a silky mid-palate without weighing down the finish.

L'Abrunet Rosé is a co-fermented blend of Garnacha Gris, Garnacha Blanca, and Garnacha Negra — all three Grenache mutations grown together in a single certified-organic vineyard called Finca Trufes in Corbera d'Ebre, Terra Alta DO. The vines sit on stony, calcareous clay soils at around 400 meters above sea level. Grapes are harvested simultaneously, destemmed, crushed, and macerated together for 24 hours, then only the free-run juice is used for fermentation.

Fermentation proceeds with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine ages for six months on the fine lees before bottling. No fining or filtration. A minimal addition of sulfites (around 10ppm) is made at bottling. The name Abrunet means swallow in Catalan — the birds that appear on the label and on the hillsides around Corbera d'Ebre.

On the nose: red fruit, orange peel, green almond, and a hint of fennel. The palate is dry, light-bodied, and bright, with juicy acidity and a faintly saline finish. This is a wine built for immediate drinking, while the lees aging adds just enough texture to keep things interesting.

Works well alongside grilled fish, seafood paella, or gambas al ajillo. The saline finish and bright acidity also cut through aged Manchego or mild fresh cheeses. Chill to around 48-52°F and serve without extended time in the glass.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Celler Frisach

Celler Frisach is run by brothers Francesc and Joan Ferré from Corbera d'Ebre, where the Ferré family has been farming grapes and olives for over 200 years. The winery name comes from their great-grandfather's surname — Frisach — which still appears on the family home on the main street of the village. For generations, the family sold their fruit to bulk buyers. In 2009, when a large buyer cancelled a purchase at the last moment, Francesc and Joan decided to keep the grapes and vinify their first wines themselves. Francesc was 21 at the time and had just completed his oenology studies.

The Ferré brothers farm around 20 hectares of vines organically in Corbera d'Ebre, certified under organic agriculture methods. The varieties they work with are all native to the region: Garnacha Blanca, Garnacha Gris, Garnacha Fina (Grenache Noir), Garnacha Peluda, Carinyena (Carignan), and Morenillo. Vineyards sit at elevations between roughly 390 and 425 meters on calcareous clay, stony clay, and panal (petrified sand dune) soils. The dry, windy conditions at these altitudes keep disease pressure low without chemical inputs.

Winemaking at Celler Frisach is low-intervention and informed by Francesc's exposure to the natural wine scene in Catalonia and the Jura. Native yeast fermentations are standard across the range. For the Rosat, the approach is deliberately simple: co-harvest all three Grenache varieties, macerate together for 24 hours, use only free-run juice, ferment in stainless steel, and age six months on fine lees. The wines across the range use no fining or filtration, with minimal to low sulfite additions at bottling.

Wine region

Terra Alta, Spain

Terra Alta is a Denominación de Origen located in the southernmost part of Catalonia, in the province of Tarragona, bordered by the Ebro River to the north and the Els Ports mountain range to the south. The appellation covers approximately 6,000 hectares of vineyards planted mostly between 350 and 550 meters above sea level. The main town is Gandesa, and Corbera d'Ebre — where Celler Frisach is based — sits within the same comarca.

The climate is Mediterranean with a notable continental influence: long, hot, dry summers and cold winters, with average annual temperatures around 16.5°C. Two local winds shape vine health significantly — the Garbí, a gentle sea breeze, and the Cerç, a dry northwestern wind — both reducing humidity and the risk of mildew, which supports organic farming. Soils are primarily calcareous clay, often stony and well-drained, with a rare ancient sandy soil type called panal found in parts of the region. Garnacha Blanca (Grenache Blanc) is the signature white grape of Terra Alta, while Garnacha Negra, Garnacha Gris, and Carignan dominate red and rosé production.
