Equator's dark espresso, and one of the bags they are best known for. Hazelnut, chocolate and apricot on the label, so there is fruit surviving under the roast rather than pure bittersweetness.

Certified organic by CCOF. Equator buys from more than fifty producers and cooperatives across twenty countries, and co-founded an experimental farm in Panama in 2008 to work on the growing end too.

The Brand

Equator Coffees

Helen Russell and Brooke McDonnell started Equator in a Marin County garage in 1995. It became the first coffee roaster in California to certify as a B Corporation, in 2011, and has been a Fair Trade USA partner since 1999.

They buy from more than fifty producers and cooperatives across twenty countries, and in 2008 co-founded Finca Sophia, an experimental farm at high altitude in Panama, to work on the growing end rather than only the buying end.

In 2016 the Small Business Administration named Equator its national small business of the year, the first certified LGBTQ-owned business to win it. Twelve cafes across California.

Pantry FAQs

Pantry items are fulfilled by our partner retailer in California, so they ship on their own and will not arrive in the same box as your wine. Order both and you should expect two parcels, often on different days.

You will receive tracking for the pantry parcel within 3-4 business days.

Wine requires an adult signature on delivery. Pantry items do not, so they can be left at your door like any ordinary parcel.

Yes. Nothing here is tied to a wine purchase. Shipping for pantry items is calculated separately at checkout.

Most of what we carry is shelf stable until it is opened, and would rather sit in a cool dark cupboard than on a sunny counter. Anything that needs refrigerating once opened says so on the label.
