Tasting notes

Pale straw with a faint green tint. The nose is clean and direct: lemon zest, green apple, and a touch of white peach. On the palate, bright citrus fruit and honeydew lead to a saline, mineral finish, with acidity that stays lively from start to finish.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Stamnaki

Stamnaki is the house label of Eklektikon, a New York-based Greek wine importer focused exclusively on small family producers across Greece. The name "Stamnaki" translates as "wine jug" in Greek, and the range is designed as an ode to indigenous Greek varieties through simple and honest monovarietal vinifications. Each wine in the lineup is made from a single variety, presented without winemaking embellishment, with the goal of communicating the character of the grape and its region as directly as possible.

Denthis is the producer name for the Stamnaki wines, organized as a cooperative of small family wineries brought together by Eklektikon, whose mission is to revitalize indigenous Greek varietals vinified traditionally and with minimal intervention. Denthis is also described as the oldest appellation in the world, a reference to the ancient winemaking history of the Peloponnese region where the grapes are sourced. The vineyards used for the Assyrtiko are organically farmed, with Eklektikon working to consolidate fruit from multiple small growers who share their commitment to low-input agriculture.

In the cellar, the approach is intentionally straightforward. Farming is done organically and the wine is made in cool stainless steel tanks to preserve acidity and freshness. There is no malolactic conversion, no oak contact, and no attempt to reshape the grape's natural profile. The result is a wine that reflects the Peloponnesian expression of Assyrtiko: juicier and more approachable than the volcanic Santorini version, but with the variety's structural acidity and saline minerality intact.

Eklektikon's broader portfolio covers multiple indigenous Greek varieties under the Stamnaki label, including Agiorgitiko, Moschofilero, and Roditis, all sourced from family growers across different sub-regions of the Peloponnese. The project is positioned as an entry point into serious Greek wine, built around transparency of origin and variety.

Wine region

Peloponnese, Greece

The Peloponnese is a large peninsula in southern Greece, connected to the mainland by the Isthmus of Corinth and bordered by the Aegean, Ionian, and Mediterranean seas. It is the largest vineyard area in Greece, accounting for around 31% of national wine production, and encompasses eight main sub-regions: Argolis, Arcadia, Achaia, Ilia, Corinthia, Laconia, Messinia, and Kefalonia. The landscape is predominantly mountainous, with several significant ranges running across the peninsula, and most viticulture takes place on hillside and high-altitude sites where soils are thin and well-drained.

The two most highly regarded PDO appellations, Nemea and Mantinia, are located on the eastern side, with vineyards planted at altitudes that reach as high as 2,500 ft above sea level. Despite the proximity to the Aegean Sea, the climate in these areas is more continental than Mediterranean, and winters are decidedly colder than in lower-lying areas of Greece.

Soils vary considerably across the peninsula. Limestone is common in the higher zones, contributing the mineral character and structural acidity that defines the better white wines of the region. Clay and sandy loam appear at lower elevations, producing softer, more fruit-forward styles.

The Peloponnese is best known internationally for Agiorgitiko, the red grape behind the Nemea PDO, and Moschofilero, the aromatic white behind Mantinia. Assyrtiko, historically associated with the volcanic island of Santorini, has also found a successful footing here on the mainland. Grown at elevation in a more sheltered, continental environment, it produces wines that are less bracing and more fruit-forward than the island style, while retaining the variety's characteristic acidity and salinity.

The region has a growing number of producers working with organic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking, led in part by importers and cooperatives committed to showcasing indigenous varieties at accessible price points. PGI Peloponnese is the primary designation used for varietal wines that fall outside the stricter PDO rules.
