Product description

Meigamma Rosato 2024 is a natural rosé crafted by Barbara and Giuseppe Pusceddu at their tiny estate in Villasimius, southern Sardinia. The wine is made from 100% Cannonau grown on sandy soils just 600 meters from the Mediterranean Sea. After hand harvest, the grapes undergo an 18-hour skin maceration before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Meigamma Rosato 2024 then ages for 12 months in used barriques on fine lees. No fining, no filtration, and no added sulfites until bottling define this coastal Sardinian rosé. Annual production remains limited to approximately 1,250 bottles.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Meigamma

Meigamma is a small natural wine estate founded in 2006 by Barbara and Giuseppe Pusceddu in Villasimius, a coastal town in the province of Cagliari, southern Sardinia. The name "Meigamma" translates to "nap after lunch" in Sardinian dialect, reflecting the couple's unhurried approach to farming and winemaking.

The estate covers just 1.1 hectares of vineyards planted on sandy soils approximately 600 meters from the Mediterranean Sea. This proximity to the coast imparts a distinct saline minerality to the wines. Barbara and Giuseppe cultivate indigenous Sardinian varieties including Cannonau, Muristellu, Carignano, Nuragus, Nasco, and Vermentino. From the beginning, they committed to organic viticulture, avoiding pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic treatments in the vineyard.

Their cellar practices follow the same minimal-intervention philosophy. All grapes are hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously using only indigenous yeasts. The Pusceddus use no selected yeasts, no additives, and no corrective agents during vinification. Wines are bottled without fining or filtration, and sulfites are not added until bottling—if at all. Many Meigamma wines contain less than 10 mg/L of total sulfites.

Beyond wine, the couple produces olive oil, honey, and vegetables on their property, embodying a self-sufficient agricultural lifestyle rooted in respect for the land. Their annual production remains intentionally small, with some cuvées limited to just over 1,000 bottles.

Meigamma wines capture the character of southeastern Sardinia: sun-drenched fruit, herbal garrigue notes, and a marine influence that distinguishes them from wines produced further inland. The estate has gained recognition among natural wine enthusiasts for its honest, territory-driven bottles that reflect both the sandy coastal terroir and the Pusceddus' hands-off winemaking approach.

Wine region

Sardinia, Italy

Sardinia lies 150 miles off the western coast of mainland Italy in the Mediterranean Sea, making it the country's second-largest island after Sicily. Viticulture here predates Roman times, with archaeological evidence suggesting winemaking traditions stretching back to the Nuragic civilization over 3,000 years ago. Today the island cultivates approximately 27,000 hectares of vines across dramatically varied terrain.

The interior highlands—where producers like Panevino farm near Nurri in the Ogliastra-Barbagia border region—reach elevations of 700 meters or higher. Soils in these areas consist of ancient schist, granite, limestone, clay, and quartz, often appearing red from iron oxide content. The altitude creates significant diurnal temperature variation, preserving acidity while allowing full phenolic ripeness during the long Mediterranean growing season. Coastal and lowland zones experience hotter, drier conditions better suited to international varieties and high-volume production.

Cannonau—genetically identical to Grenache—dominates red wine production and accounts for roughly 30% of Sardinian vineyard plantings. DNA research suggests the variety may have originated on the island before spreading to Spain and France. Beyond Cannonau, Sardinia preserves dozens of indigenous varieties rarely found elsewhere: Carignano del Sulcis (a local Carignan strain), Monica, Muristellu, Cagnulari, Bovale Sardo, and obscure grapes like Molletu and Girò for reds; Vermentino, Nuragus, Semidano, Vernaccia di Oristano, Nasco, and Malvasia di Sardegna for whites.

A growing movement of natural wine producers has emerged across the island, working to revive abandoned vineyards and preserve ancient varieties through organic and biodynamic farming. Many of these vignerons practice minimal intervention in the cellar—spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, extended macerations, aging in neutral vessels, and bottling without fining, filtration, or added sulfites. The traditional bush-vine training system, alberello, remains widespread in older plantings, keeping yields naturally low while protecting grapes from intense summer heat.
