Woody's

Woody Hambrecht grew up on vineyards. His grandparents Bill and Sally Hambrecht helped shape Northern California's wine landscape in the 1970s, contributing to labels like Ridge, Chalone, and Gary Farrell while developing vineyard land across Sonoma and Mendocino. Woody grew up farming that inheritance, managing the family's CCOF-certified organic Grist Vineyard in Healdsburg and supplying fruit to producers like Martha Stoumen, Ruth Lewandowski, and Ehren Jordan. The decision to launch Woody's, a non-alcoholic wine project, came from a different kind of inheritance: a belief that everyone at the table deserves a glass worth raising.

Backstory

After co-founding Haus, the modern aperitif brand, Hambrecht partnered with entrepreneur Justin Kan to create Woody's. Kan had spent years at parties and dinners wishing for something more intentional than sparkling water. The two saw an opportunity to apply serious winemaking craft to the non-alcoholic category, which had long been dominated by sugary imitations. Woody's launched with a Blanc de Blanc and a Sparkling Rosé as its founding expressions.

The Region

Woody's sources certified organic Chardonnay from Campovida Vineyards in Mendocino County, one of California's most committed organic farming regions. Mendocino's cooler inland valleys produce fruit with natural acidity and freshness that translates well through the dealcoholization process, retaining aromatic complexity that warmer-climate fruit often loses.

Vineyards and Farming

All fruit used in Woody's wines comes from sustainably and organically farmed vineyards. Hambrecht's own Grist Vineyard in Healdsburg grows old-vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc. His commitment to organic agriculture, developed over more than a decade of hands-on farming, informs the sourcing standards across every Woody's product.

Winemaking

Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified using conventional sparkling wine methods to build complexity before dealcoholization. The gentle spin-cone dealcoholization process preserves volatile aromatics that traditional vacuum distillation destroys, resulting in wines that retain stone fruit, citrus, and toast characteristics associated with quality Chardonnay.

The Wines

The Woody's range currently includes Blanc de Blanc Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine and a Sparkling Rosé, both made from organic Chardonnay. Both are vegan-friendly and produced without artificial flavors or additives. They are designed to sit alongside alcoholic wines at the table without apology—a glass that fits any occasion and any guest.
