Tasting notes

Torrontes rarely gets the natural wine treatment — no added sulfites, spontaneous fermentation in neutral oak, and zero fining or filtration lets the variety's signature rose, lychee, and orange blossom aromatics come through without being propped up by winemaking additives. At 1,250 meters in Los Chacayes, the acidity is sharp enough to keep the floral intensity from feeling heavy or flat.

WTF Torrontes 2017 is 100% Torrontes sourced from GI Los Chacayes in the Tunuyán department of the Uco Valley, Mendoza. The vines grow on alluvial soils with chalky topsoil and loamy clay subsoil at 1,250 meters above sea level, where a semi-desert climate delivers roughly 330 days of sun per year alongside significant diurnal temperature swings that preserve natural acidity.

Grapes are hand-harvested into small bins and pressed to separate juice from skins before the must goes into fourth-use oak barrels for spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The oak at this age contributes negligible flavor, functioning mainly as a porous vessel. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no added sulfites.

Casa de Uco is the vineyard partner, farming under certified organic practices — no chemical pesticides, compost-only fertilization, double Guyot pruning, and rigorous parcel-by-parcel selection based on soil type. WTF (Wednesday Thursday Friday) is a New York City-based group of natural wine enthusiasts who collaborated with Casa de Uco to produce this wine.

Torrontes is a crossing of Muscat of Alexandria and Criolla Chica, native to Argentina, and delivers intensely aromatic whites with floral, citrus, and stone fruit character. At high altitude, the variety retains the acidity needed to keep that aromatics in balance rather than tipping into heaviness.

Works well with dishes that match its floral intensity and citrus edge: ceviche, grilled shrimp with citrus, or Vietnamese spring rolls. The acidity and aromatic lift also hold up to mild spice, so lighter curries with chicken or tofu are a solid call. Soft fresh cheeses like chèvre or ricotta let the wine's apricot and orange blossom notes read clearly.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Returns Policy

Producer profile

WTF + Casa de Uco

WTF — Wednesday Thursday Friday — is a project run by a group of young natural wine enthusiasts based in New York City. Rather than owning their own vineyards or winery, WTF partners with established growers and winemakers in specific regions to produce small-run, low-intervention wines. Their collaboration with Casa de Uco in Los Chacayes produced a series of varietal wines, including this Torrontes, under minimal-intervention protocols.

Casa de Uco is the vineyard and winery partner located in GI Los Chacayes, Tunuyán, Uco Valley. The estate farms under certified organic practices verified by OIA (Organización Internacional Agropecuaria), using no chemical pesticides and relying on natural compost for soil fertility. Vines are pruned using the double Guyot method, and agronomists divide the estate into parcels according to soil composition — stony soils and sandy soils are kept separate through fermentation to identify distinct wine styles. The estate sits at 1,250 meters above sea level in a semi-desert climate with approximately 330 days of sun per year.

For the WTF Torrontes, grapes are hand-harvested into small bins, then pressed to separate juice from skins before the must is transferred to fourth-use oak barrels for spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. At this age, the oak imparts no detectable wood flavor and functions as a neutral vessel. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no added sulfites.

Wine region

Uco Valley, Argentina

The Uco Valley (Valle de Uco) is a key sub-region of Mendoza located roughly an hour's drive south of Mendoza city, running approximately 70 kilometers from Tupungato in the north to San Carlos in the south. Vineyards sit at elevations ranging from around 900 to over 1,500 meters above sea level, and the dry continental climate brings intense sun, minimal rainfall, and large day-to-night temperature swings that allow grapes to ripen fully while retaining fresh natural acidity. Soils throughout the valley are primarily alluvial — a clay and rock base with a stony, sandy surface — and free-draining, which stresses the vines and promotes lower yields and more concentrated fruit.

Los Chacayes is a Geographical Indication (GI) within the Uco Valley, located in the Tunuyán department. Vineyards here are planted on an alluvial cone running from the Andean foothills, at altitudes between 1,100 and 1,500 meters above sea level. The GI was formally established in 2017 and was pioneered by French winemaker François Lurton, who planted the first vines in 1996. The zone spans a Winkler range from Class I at the highest elevations to Class III at the lowest, giving producers considerable climatic diversity within a relatively compact area. Malbec dominates plantings, but Los Chacayes has also shown strong results with white varieties and Rhône blends, with producers including Casa de Uco, Piedra Negra, and Ver Sacrum among its key names.
