Tasting notes

Raspberry and black cherry up front, with a mineral backbone of chalk and river stones that keeps it from going soft. The semi-carbonic process gives it Beaujolais-like lift and crunch at just 12.3% ABV — easy to drink, hard to put down.

  • Similar To: For fans of Beaujolais cru, Gamay, and lighter-style natural Pinot Noir

The Super Deluxe is Andy Young's reserve-tier Pinot Noir from The Marigny project, sourced from four organically farmed, dry-farmed sites in the North Plains area of Oregon's Willamette Valley. The vineyards are managed by the Marigny team themselves using cover crops including native flowers, edible greens, and root vegetables.

Each vineyard was vinified separately through semi-carbonic maceration with indigenous yeast, lasting one to three weeks depending on the site. The wine was then pressed directly into old neutral barrels, where it rested on gross lees for approximately 10 months without stirring or racking until bottling.

The result lands somewhere between a Beaujolais cru and an Oregon Pinot Noir — mineral and fruit-forward with fine-grained tannins, bright acidity, and a lush texture that belies its 12.3% ABV. Andy Young describes it as semi-carbonic Pinot masquerading as Gamay.

Serve slightly chilled alongside roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or a charcuterie board. Its bright acidity and light tannins also work well with tomato-based pasta or a simple cheeseburger.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

St. Reginald Parish

Andy Young is originally from Louisiana and spent time as a professional drummer in a Texas rock band before turning to winemaking. He immersed himself in Willamette Valley's wine scene and launched St. Reginald Parish around 2012 to 2015. In 2018, he spun off The Marigny as a separate label focused on easy-drinking, low-intervention styles, naming it after the Marigny neighborhood in New Orleans' French Quarter, known for its live music.

Young sources fruit from organically farmed, dry-farmed sites in the North Plains area of Willamette Valley, with the Marigny team managing the vineyards directly in collaboration with the owners. Cover crops include native flowers, edible greens, and root vegetables. Production remains small, historically under 1,000 cases across all labels.

Young ferments with native yeasts and employs carbonic and semi-carbonic maceration across his portfolio, a technique he has used to bring Beaujolais-like character to Oregon Pinot Noir. His wines receive low-to-no sulfur additions. The Super Deluxe bottling functions as his reserve tier, receiving longer barrel aging on gross lees compared to the standard Carbonic Pinot Noir release.

Wine region

Willamette Valley, USA

The Willamette Valley stretches roughly 150 miles from Portland south toward Eugene, framed by the Coast Range to the west and the Cascades to the east. Its maritime climate delivers cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers with long daylight hours during the growing season. Warm days and cool nights preserve natural acidity and allow slow, even ripening — conditions that suit thin-skinned Pinot Noir especially well.

The valley's soils vary across its eleven nested sub-AVAs, spanning marine sedimentary, volcanic basalt, and loess deposits. The North Plains area, where The Marigny's vineyards are situated, sits in the northern reaches of the valley. The broader Willamette Valley AVA is home to over 700 wineries and accounts for roughly two-thirds of Oregon's wine production, with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay as the leading varieties.
