Tasting notes

This is early-era St. Reginald Parish Chardonnay from one of Oregon's most distinctive natural wine producers — lean, savory, and fruit-forward without the oak and butter profile that defines most American Chardonnay. Pear and golden apple lead, with a crisp, clean finish that keeps it versatile at the table.

The Marigny Chardonnay is a 100% Chardonnay from Andrew Reginald Young's St. Reginald Parish label, sourced from cooler-climate vineyard sites in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Young sources fruit from organically and sustainably farmed sites managed by growers he has long-standing relationships with, picking earlier than most to preserve acidity and keep alcohol in check.

In the cellar, Young works with native yeasts, avoids additions, and bottles without fining or filtration. His approach to white wine follows the same low-intervention philosophy as his reds: let the fruit and site do the talking, add nothing that isn't necessary. A small amount of sulfur at bottling is the only addition.

The wine shows pear and golden apple on the nose with a savory, textural mid-palate and crisp finish. At 12.5% ABV it stays lean and food-friendly rather than weighty. This was among Young's earliest Chardonnay releases under the St. Reginald Parish label, which began producing wines around 2015.

A natural alongside roast chicken, steamed Dungeness crab, or potato gratin. The savory, crisp profile also works well with fresh chevre or a simple herb-dressed grain salad. Serve cold, around 48-52F.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

St. Reginald Parish

Andrew Reginald Young left a career as a rock drummer to make wine in Oregon's Willamette Valley, producing his first wines under the St. Reginald Parish label around 2015. The winery name combines his middle name, Reginald, with St. Tammany Parish, the New Orleans neighborhood where he grew up. The Marigny label — a reference to the Marigny neighborhood in New Orleans' French Quarter, known for its live music scene — was spun off from St. Reginald Parish in 2018 as a home for his more approachable, easy-drinking styles.

Young sources all fruit from friends with established vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley, focusing on cooler-climate locations farmed organically or sustainably. He does not own vineyards. Production remains small — under 1,000 cases annually — and the winery is based in McMinnville, Oregon.

Young ferments with native yeasts, uses no additives beyond a minimal sulfur addition at bottling, and bottles without fining or filtration. He frequently employs carbonic maceration for his reds to maximize freshness and minimize tannin. For whites, his documented approach involves direct press, neutral oak or stainless steel aging on full lees, and early picking to preserve acidity.

Wine region

Willamette Valley, USA

The Willamette Valley AVA stretches roughly 150 miles through northwest Oregon, sheltered by the Coast Range to the west and the Cascades to the east. The valley floor and surrounding hillsides experience a cool, maritime-influenced growing season with strong diurnal temperature swings — conditions that allow grapes to ripen slowly and retain natural acidity. Eleven sub-AVAs sit within the broader Willamette Valley designation, each defined by distinct soils, elevations, and Pacific exposure.

Soils in the valley fall into three broad categories: red volcanic Jory clay loam derived from basalt (prevalent above 300 feet and dominant in the Dundee Hills), marine sedimentary Willakenzie silty loam (common in Yamhill-Carlton and Ribbon Ridge), and wind-deposited Laurelwood loess (found in the Chehalem Mountains). Pinot Noir is the dominant variety, but Chardonnay and Pinot Gris are widely planted across sub-AVAs including Dundee Hills, Chehalem Mountains, and McMinnville. The northern Willamette — where Young sources much of his fruit — tends toward cooler temperatures and higher-acid fruit profiles.
