Tasting notes

Nine days of skin contact pulls out grapefruit pith, fresh grass, and a distinct salinity that you don't get from conventionally made Sauvignon Blanc. At 12.3% ABV, it stays light on its feet while the texture holds the wine together through the finish.

Neon Eon's Sauvignon Blanc Orange is a single-vineyard, skin-contact wine sourced from organically farmed fruit in Oliver, British Columbia, in the South Okanagan. Grapes were harvested on October 1, 2020, then macerated on their skins for nine days before fermentation completed with wild, native yeast. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered with no sulphur added at any stage. ABV is 12.3%.

Oliver sits in the arid southern end of the Okanagan Valley, where desert-like conditions, glacial soils of gravel and sand, and sharp diurnal temperature swings concentrate flavor while preserving natural acidity. The longer maceration time compared to earlier vintages produced a wine with more textural grip and aromatic depth than a conventional Sauvignon Blanc would offer.

On the nose, grapefruit and fresh-cut grass dominate, true to the variety's pyrazine and thiol character. On the palate the wine is dry, with a light phenolic grip from the skin contact and a saline finish. This is not a conventional style of Sauvignon Blanc — it reads more like a structured orange wine that uses Sauvignon Blanc's aromatics as a foundation rather than a showcase.

The saline finish and citrus-forward nose make this a natural match for raw oysters, grilled halibut, or a simple ceviche with lime and herbs. It also works well alongside goat cheese, where the wine's light phenolic grip cuts through the fat.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Neon Eon

Neon Eon was founded in 2018 by Tyler Thrussell, who grew up around wine — his father Rick started Sage Hills Estate Winery, an organic operation in Summerland, BC, and his brother Keenan became its winemaker. Tyler worked in sales and vineyard management at Sage Hills before launching Neon Eon as a separate project focused on low-intervention natural wine.

All Neon Eon wines are made from organically or biodynamically farmed grapes. Fruit is sourced from single vineyards across the Okanagan, including this Sauvignon Blanc from Oliver. The label's philosophy is transparency: no added yeasts, sulphur, enzymes, or nutrients at any point in production, and no fining or filtration before bottling.

Winemaking at Neon Eon follows spontaneous fermentation with ambient yeast. For this Sauvignon Blanc, nine days of skin maceration preceded fermentation, resulting in greater aromatic complexity and light tannin structure compared to free-run white wine. The wine is bottled as-is — live, unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulphur — and is intended to be stored with the same care as any living product sensitive to heat and light fluctuations.

Wine region

Okanagan Valley, Canada

Oliver is located in the South Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, within Canada's most significant wine-producing region. The Okanagan Valley GI stretches roughly 180 kilometres from the Canada-US border northward, and Oliver sits near the southern end where the climate turns arid and desert-like. The Cascade and Coast Mountains create a pronounced rain shadow, leaving Oliver with less than 250 millimetres of annual precipitation. Summer daytime temperatures routinely exceed 30°C and can push past 40°C, while nights cool sharply — a diurnal range that allows grapes to ripen fully while retaining natural acidity.

Soils in the Oliver area consist of ancient glacial deposits: primarily gravel, sand, rock, and trace minerals. North of the town, soils shift toward gravel and sand with pockets of glaciofluvial material. The valley floor is flanked by mountains that influence sun exposure: the western side receives morning and afternoon light while the eastern side bakes through the afternoon and evening. The region sits within the Okanagan Valley Geographical Indication, with sub-GIs including the Golden Mile Bench (west of Oliver) and the Black Sage Bench (eastern flank, south of Oliver). Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay are among the white varieties grown in the Oliver area.
