La Boutanche Rouge is a Cinsault-dominant blend from Martin Texier's 5-hectare certified organic estate in Saint-Julien-en-Saint-Alban, a village in the Ardèche on the right bank of the Rhône. The vineyards sit over a mosaic of granite, gneiss, schist, clay, and limestone soils. Grapes are harvested by hand.

The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in concrete tanks. It is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero added sulfur. The result is a light, fresh, and immediately drinkable red built around Cinsault's natural low tannin and bright acidity.

La Boutanche is a collaboration between Martin Texier and natural wine importer Selection Massale, conceived to deliver genuinely natural wine in an accessible 1-liter screw-top format. Martin Texier's gorilla label distinguishes his version within the wider Boutanche lineup of independent producers.

Serve slightly chilled. The 1-liter format and screw cap make this an ideal everyday table wine.

Works well with charcuterie, grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, or a simple tomato-based pasta. The low tannin and bright acidity also make it a natural match for fatty, salty foods like aged cheese or cured meats. Serve at a slight chill for best results.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

La Boutanche Martin Texier

Martin Texier established his domaine in 2014 in Saint-Julien-en-Saint-Alban, Ardèche. He is the son of Eric Texier, a northern Rhône producer known for his work in the Brézème appellation. Before returning to the vines, Martin studied economics, spent time as a DJ, and held wine trade internships at Uva Wines in Brooklyn and Flatiron Wines in Manhattan.

Martin farms 5 hectares in and around the commune, certified organic, with an approach he describes as sitting between biodynamic and regenerative agriculture. Soil types across his parcels include clay, limestone, gneiss, schist, and granite. Varieties planted include Syrah, Cinsault, and Grenache among the reds, and Roussanne, Clairette, Muscat, and Chasselas Rosé among the whites. All harvest is done by hand.

In the cellar, Martin works exclusively with indigenous yeasts. Wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered with little or no added sulfur. Vessels include old barriques, demi-muids, and concrete tanks depending on the cuvée. The La Boutanche bottling is fermented and aged in concrete and bottled with zero added sulfur. His estate range includes Brézème Blanc, Brézème Rouge, the single-vineyard Cérouan Syrah, and the pétillant naturel Petite Nature, among others.

Wine region

St.-Julien-en-St.-Alban (Ardèche), France

Saint-Julien-en-Saint-Alban sits in the Ardèche department on the right bank of the Rhône, at the southern edge of northern Rhône influence. The commune lies in the Ouvèze river valley, with elevations ranging from roughly 100 to nearly 700 meters above sea level. The terrain is rugged, with southeast-facing slopes suited to viticulture. Vineyards fall under the Côtes du Rhône AOC, which permits 27 grape varieties including Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault.

The soils in and around Saint-Julien-en-Saint-Alban are geologically diverse: granite and gneiss dominate the hillsides, with patches of schist, clay, limestone, and marl depending on the parcel. This variety of parent rock within a small area gives producers like Martin Texier the raw material for multiple wine styles from a compact landholding. The climate transitions between continental and Mediterranean influences, with warm dry summers and meaningful diurnal temperature shifts that help preserve acidity in the grapes.
