Tasting notes

This wine does not fit cleanly into rosé or orange, and that is exactly the point — skin-fermented Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer give it a copper-salmon hue and a texture most rosés never reach. Tropical fruit, raspberry, guava, and a streak of herbal salinity make it one of the more characterful easy-drinking wines coming out of Victoria right now.

Taste profile
GuavaRaspberryLycheeSaline
  • Style: Skin-contact rosé-orange hybrid; copper-salmon color; tropical fruit, raspberry, guava, herbal spice; 12.5% ABV
  • Grapes & Terroir: Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Shiraz; organic/biodynamic (uncertified); Victoria, Australia
  • Winemaking: Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer fully skin-fermented; Shiraz short skin contact; minimal additions; wild yeast; drink-now style
  • Serving: Serve well-chilled, 45-50°F; no decant needed
  • Pairing: Aperitif, grilled prawns, Thai green curry, Vietnamese summer rolls, raw oysters, fresh cheeses
  • Similar To: For fans of lo-fi skin-contact rosé who want more texture and tropical fruit than a classic Provence style

Jumpin' Juice is a collaboration between Patrick Sullivan and Xavier Goodridge, two Gippsland-based winemakers who joined forces to source fruit freely from across Victoria and beyond. The Sunset bottling is their signature warm-weather wine: Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer are both fully fermented on skins, while Shiraz spends a shorter time on skins before the three are blended together. The result sits firmly between a rosé and an orange wine in color, texture, and intent.

On the nose, expect tropical fruit punch forward — guava, ripe raspberry, and lychee — backed by a hint of green herbs and rose. The palate delivers that same crunchy, lush character with bright acidity and a faint saline pull on the finish. It is a light, textured, drink-now wine with more grip than a typical rosé and more brightness than most orange wines.

The fruit is farmed organically and biodynamically (uncertified). Winemaking is minimal intervention: little to no additions, and the wine is built for early drinking rather than cellaring. At 12% ABV, it is a genuinely easy pour that rewards a chill and good company.

Patrick Sullivan launched his label in 2010 and purchased his own farm in the Strzelecki Ranges of West Gippsland in 2015. His focus is maximum intervention in the vineyard — pruning, leaf thinning, soil health — paired with minimal additions in the cellar. Xavier Goodridge shares the same farming-first philosophy, and Jumpin' Juice reflects both producers' interest in exploring fruit outside their home appellations.

Drink it as an aperitif with charcuterie, fresh cheeses, or salt-and-vinegar crisps. It holds up well alongside lightly spiced dishes — Thai green curry, Vietnamese summer rolls, or grilled prawns with chili. The saline finish also works nicely with raw oysters.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Patrick Sullivan

Patrick Sullivan grew up in rural Victoria and studied viticulture rather than oenology, a choice that defined his priorities as a producer. He launched his own label in 2010 using fruit from leased vineyards, then purchased a farm in the Strzelecki Ranges of West Gippsland with his wife Megan in 2015. His home vineyards sit on volcanic soils in the Baw Baw Shire, and he has identified Gippsland's cool climate and red volcanic soils as particularly well suited to site-specific, high-acid wines.

Sullivan's philosophy centers on high intervention in the vineyard — meticulous bunch and leaf thinning, pruning, and soil health management — combined with minimal additions in the cellar. He uses wild yeast fermentations and neutral vessels, adds little or no sulfur, and does not acidify or use selected yeasts. While often grouped with the natural wine movement, Sullivan has publicly distanced himself from the label, preferring to describe his approach simply as making wine the way he likes to drink it.

Jumpin' Juice is a side project Sullivan runs with Xavier Goodridge, a fellow Gippsland-based winemaker and longtime friend. The label allows both producers to source fruit from outside their home GI and explore blends and techniques they do not use under their own names. The Sunset bottling uses skin-fermented Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer blended with short-maceration Shiraz, farmed organically and biodynamically though without formal certification. Wines are made with little to no additions and are intended for immediate drinking.

Wine region

Victoria, Australia

Gippsland is a large cool-climate wine region in southeastern Victoria, stretching roughly 400 kilometers of coastline from the outskirts of Melbourne east to the New South Wales border. It operates under a single Geographical Indication (GI) granted in 1996, with no formal sub-appellations, though producers commonly refer to West, South, and East Gippsland as distinct zones. West Gippsland, where Patrick Sullivan farms in the Strzelecki Ranges, is influenced by proximity to the snowfields of the Great Dividing Range. South Gippsland is the coolest zone, exposed to onshore winds and maritime influence from Bass Strait, which drives significant diurnal temperature shifts and helps grapes retain acidity through ripening.

Soils across the region vary considerably — from dark black loams and red volcanic soils in the south and west to lighter sandy soils in the grey-to-grey-brown spectrum with mottled clay subsoils in the east. Serious viticulture in Gippsland did not begin until the late 1970s, and the region remains dominated by small, family-owned vineyards. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the benchmarks, with Bass Phillip's South Gippsland Pinot Noir among the most expensive Australian reds sold in the United States. Shiraz, aromatic whites, and Pinot Gris are also grown successfully across the zone's varied microclimates.
