Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Davide Vignato

Davide Vignato is a third-generation grower based in Gambellara, in the province of Vicenza. His grandfather, Rinaldo, acquired the original parcel of land in the Gambellara hills and planted vines there, but it was Davide's father, Gian Domenico, who first produced wine from those grapes. The cuvée El Gian takes its name from Gian Domenico, as a tribute to his role in establishing the family's winemaking identity. When Davide took over management of the estate, he began converting the vineyards to organic and biodynamic farming in 1997, eventually becoming the first producer in the Gambellara DOC to achieve organic certification.

Today the estate covers approximately 14 hectares, planted primarily to Garganega alongside Durella, with a small amount of Merlot. The vineyards are all on the volcanic basalt soils of the Gambellara hills, trained using the local Vicentine trellis system and farmed without synthetic inputs. Green manure (sovescio) is used to maintain soil health and microbial activity. Vignato's stated aim as a winemaker is to transfer the character of the soil and the grape directly into the wine, with minimal intervention at every stage: spontaneous fermentation, lees aging, and no fining or filtration.

The range at Davide Vignato includes still, sparkling, orange, and late-harvest expressions of Garganega, along with a Durella-based sparkling wine and a Merlot that sits outside the estate's indigenous variety focus. El Gian is the entry point to the range, and Col Moenia, made from older Garganega vines with extended skin contact, represents a more structured, textured interpretation of the same terroir.

Wine region

Veneto, Italy

Gambellara is a small DOC zone in the province of Vicenza in northeastern Italy, situated between Verona and Vicenza in the western Veneto. It covers approximately 200 hectares of planted vineyard and shares its principal grape variety, Garganega, with its more widely known neighbor to the west, Soave. What distinguishes Gambellara is its geology. The hills sit directly on top of an ancient volcanic formation centered on Monte San Marco, a dormant volcano, and the soils are defined by compact horizontal bands of dark basalt bedrock lying just beneath the surface. A basalt column formation near Davide Vignato's winery was historically mined during the mid-twentieth century to provide railroad ballast, and the remnants of that extraction are now a protected natural site within a local park.

This volcanic geology has a direct influence on the wine. Basalt soils are low in nutrients, drain freely, and retain heat effectively, promoting even ripening while keeping yields naturally in check. The mineral content of the rock transmits a distinct salty, stony quality to wines grown on these soils, a character consistently described in Garganega from Gambellara and one that sets it apart from the rounder, sometimes honeyed expression of the grape in nearby Soave. The hills face south and range between 150 and 300 meters elevation, producing a diurnal temperature variation that preserves acidity and aromatic freshness.

The DOC Gambellara allows still, sparkling (Spumante), and late-harvest (Recioto) wines from Garganega. A separate DOCG governs the Recioto di Gambellara sweet wine. With only around 20 producers working the appellation, it remains one of the less commercially prominent DOCs in the Veneto, but the quality achievable from old organic and biodynamic vineyards on these soils has attracted growing international attention in recent years.
