Tasting notes

The combination of Negramaro, Aglianico, and Trebbiano in a pet nat is genuinely unusual — the result is a lightly fizzy rosé with fresh strawberry and red berry fruit, a streak of chalk-driven minerality from the Murge limestone, and enough Aglianico grip to give it backbone without weight. At 11% ABV, it drinks like a smarter version of a spritz.

No Virus On The Dance Floor is a pet nat rosé made from 50% Negramaro, 35% Aglianico, and 15% Trebbiano, sourced from organically farmed vineyards planted in 2001 on clay and limestone soils in Sammichele di Bari, on the Altopiano delle Murge at roughly 280 meters altitude. The wine is classified as Vino da Tavola, outside any DOC or IGT framework.

All three varieties are direct-pressed and the free-run musts are blended immediately after pressing. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts, with no selected yeast strains and no sulfite additions at any stage. The wine spends six months in stainless steel, then a dose of unfermented grape must is added at bottling to trigger a secondary fermentation in bottle — the classic ancestral method that gives it its fine, lively bubbles and a light haze.

The name references both the pandemic era in which the 2020 vintage was made and the idea of three very different grape varieties sharing the same tank. Negramaro contributes color and dark berry fruit, Aglianico brings structure and grip, and Trebbiano adds acidity and freshness to keep the whole thing light on its feet at 11% ABV.

Masseria La Cattiva holds organic certification from Accredia and Suolosalute. No fining, no filtration, no added sulfites.

Drink it cold with fried seafood, burrata with cherry tomatoes, or a plate of cured meats. The acidity and light carbonation cut through fat without overpowering delicate flavors. It also works on its own as an aperitivo, especially in warmer months.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

La Cattiva

Masseria La Cattiva is located in Sammichele di Bari, on the Altopiano delle Murge in central Puglia, roughly 27 kilometers south of Bari at about 280 meters altitude. The property had been in the family of Marianna Pastore Bovio for generations and was used as a cattle stable until relatively recently. Its vineyards were farmed organically for decades but the grapes were sold to larger wineries rather than vinified on the estate.

In 2018, Marianna and her husband, along with five friends — Leonardo, Alfredo, Paolo, Michele, and Loreto — who had worked as craft brewers, began experimenting with fermentation on the property. In 2019, the group formally converted the old stable building into a winery and began producing wine under the Masseria La Cattiva label. The seven members of the project include Manfredi as well. The farm holds organic certification from Accredia and Suolosalute. Vineyard work is entirely manual, using only copper and sulfur as treatments. The estate farms vineyards planted in 2001 on clay and limestone soils, with Primitivo and Trebbiano as the main varieties, alongside Negramaro, Aglianico, Montepulciano, Aleatico, and Malvasia.

Fermentation across all wines is 100% spontaneous with native yeasts. No selected yeasts, no added sulfites, and no fining or filtration. Most wines ferment and age in stainless steel; select wines are raised in amphora or barrel. The brewing background of the team is evident in their technical precision around fermentation temperatures and vessel hygiene, and in their willingness to experiment with formats including cans and refermented-in-bottle pet nats. Annual production is approximately 10,000 bottles.

Wine region

Puglia, Italy

Puglia occupies the southeastern heel of Italy, stretching from the Gargano Peninsula in the north to the tip of the Salento peninsula in the south. The region divides broadly into two zones: the elevated interior plateau known as the Altopiano delle Murge, and the flatter, hotter coastal plains and Salento lowlands to the south. The Murge plateau rises to between 200 and 679 meters, formed from Cretaceous limestone up to 3,000 meters thick, with karst features including dolines, sinkholes, and caves. This elevation gives the Murge a meaningfully different climate from the rest of Puglia — cooler winters, significant diurnal temperature swings, and around 950mm of annual rainfall, compared to the arid conditions of Salento.

Puglia is Italy's largest volume wine producer, but serious quality estates are concentrated in specific subzones. The Murgia IGT covers much of Bari province and the plateau. Key DOCGs include Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale in the south and Castel del Monte in the north, while DOCs such as Gioia del Colle, Brindisi, and Salice Salentino regulate the region's most important indigenous reds. The dominant red grapes are Primitivo, Negroamaro, and Nero di Troia; white production is led by Verdeca, Trebbiano, and Fiano. Soils across the plateau are predominantly limestone and clay, with iron-rich upper layers. The best vineyards are typically old-vine plantings whose roots have penetrated deep into the calcareous subsoil.
