Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Folicello

Folicello is a certified organic winery founded by Marco Giovannini and Antonella Fontana in Castelfranco Emilia, near Modena, in the early 1980s. What began as a personal project—making healthy wine for themselves and friends—has grown into a respected natural wine estate spanning approximately 10 hectares. The couple's daughter Irene joined the operation in 2022, helping manage vineyard work and harvest logistics.

From the start, Marco and Antonella committed to organic farming at a time when such practices were uncommon in Italy. Their approach extends beyond basic organic certification: the winery operates entirely on solar-generated electricity, uses fermentation byproducts to create vine treatments, and maintains biodiversity throughout the property. These environmental considerations reflect their philosophy that quality winemaking requires harmony with nature.

The estate focuses on indigenous Emilia-Romagna grape varieties. For reds, Folicello cultivates Lambrusco Grasparossa, Sangiovese, and Malbo Gentile. White varieties include Pignoletto, Montuni, Trebbiano, Pinot Bianco, and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica. All grapes are hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in their modern cellar. No sulfur dioxide is added during any stage of production, and wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Beyond wine, Marco and Antonella produce organic grape juice, jams, and traditional balsamic vinegar—products that demonstrate their deep connection to Emilian agricultural traditions. Their diversified offerings reflect a lifestyle centered on sustainable countryside living rather than purely commercial goals.

Folicello's portfolio includes sparkling wines made via the ancestral method, still reds, and skin-contact whites. Try their Lambrusco Pét-Nat, Rosato Pét-Nat, John Doe Orange, and Bianco Pét-Nat. Browse more selections from this producer and other best-selling natural wines.

Wine region

Emilia–Romagna, Italy

milia-Romagna stretches across northern Italy from the Po River plains to the Apennine Mountains, with the Adriatic Sea moderating its eastern climate. This region ranks among Italy's largest wine producers by volume, with over 53,000 hectares under vine generating approximately 6.1 million hectoliters annually. The territory divides into two distinct historical areas: Emilia to the west, centered around Bologna, Modena, and Parma, and Romagna along the Adriatic coast to the east.

Winemaking traditions here date to the seventh century BCE, when Etruscan settlers first cultivated vines. The Romans later expanded viticulture along the Via Aemilia, the ancient road that gave the region its name. Today, Emilia-Romagna cultivates a diverse range of grape varieties, with Trebbiano accounting for roughly 30 percent of plantings, followed by Lambrusco at 18 percent and Sangiovese at 16 percent.

The western Emilia zone, where Folicello is located near Modena, features predominantly flat terrain with fertile alluvial soils composed of clay, silt, and sand deposited by the Po River and its tributaries. This area is famous for Lambrusco production, but growers also cultivate Sangiovese, Malbo Gentile, and various white varieties including Pignoletto, Trebbiano, and Malvasia.

Beyond wine, Emilia-Romagna produces some of Italy's most celebrated foods: Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, prosciutto di Parma, aceto balsamico tradizionale from Modena, and fresh egg pasta including tortellini and tagliatelle. This gastronomic heritage influences local winemaking, with producers crafting wines specifically suited to the rich regional cuisine.

The natural wine movement has gained significant traction in Emilia-Romagna, with producers embracing organic viticulture and minimal-intervention cellar practices to create authentic expressions of local varieties.
