Made from certified organic Lambrusco grapes grown on clay, silt, and sand composite soils, this wine follows the Metodo Ancestrale—spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts completes in the bottle, creating natural effervescence. Folicello Lambrusco Rosato Pét Nat 2022 is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulfites by winemakers Marco Giovannini and Antonella Fontana, who have championed organic viticulture since the early 1980s. 12.5% ABV.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Folicello

Marco Giovannini and Antonella Fontana founded Folicello in Castelfranco Emilia during the early 1980s as something of a hobby—making wine for themselves and friends from the Emilian countryside they loved. What began as a personal passion has evolved into a certified organic estate producing some of Emilia-Romagna's most authentic natural wines.

The couple's commitment to organic farming predates current trends. When they started, organic viticulture remained rare in their region. Their approach extends well beyond regulatory compliance: the estate operates entirely on solar-generated electricity, grape marc is composted and returned to the vineyards, and biodiversity is actively cultivated throughout the property. Chickens and other animals roam freely among the vines. Every step of production—from hand-harvesting through bottling—takes place on-site.

Folicello's vineyards focus exclusively on indigenous Emilia-Romagna varieties. For reds and rosés, they cultivate Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco di Sorbara, Sangiovese, and the rare Malbo Gentile. White wines come from Pignoletto, Montuni, Trebbiano, and Pinot Bianco. All wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and bottled without sulfur at any stage of production—including at bottling.

The estate has expanded beyond wine to include organic grape juice, jams, and a dedicated vinegar production facility. This diversification reflects Marco and Antonella's holistic connection to their land and their belief in showcasing organic farming's full potential.

In 2006, Folicello won the award for best red wine at the Emilia-Romagna Organic Wine Competition for their Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC. This recognition confirmed what local enthusiasts already knew: quality natural Lambrusco could stand alongside any Italian sparkling wine.

Wine region

Emilia–Romagna, Italy

Emilia-Romagna stretches across northern Italy from the Po River plains to the Apennine Mountains, with the Adriatic Sea moderating its continental climate. This region ranks among Italy's most productive wine territories, yet its reputation rests firmly on one distinctive style: Lambrusco, the sparkling red that captured international attention in the 1980s.

The province of Modena sits at Lambrusco's heart, home to five distinct DOC appellations: Lambrusco di Sorbara, Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro, Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce, Lambrusco di Modena, and Lambrusco Reggiano. Each designation reflects different Lambrusco subvarieties with unique profiles—Sorbara yields the lightest, most aromatic expressions, while Grasparossa produces deeper, more tannic wines. This diversity within a single grape family creates remarkable range.

Castelfranco Emilia lies in the plains south of Modena, where soils blend clay, silt, sand, and limestone into composite structures ideal for viticulture. The flat topography differs from Italy's celebrated hillside vineyards, but generations of farmers have adapted techniques specifically suited to these fertile lowlands. Foggy winters transition into warm, humid summers, encouraging vigorous vine growth and the bright acidity characteristic of regional wines.

Emilia-Romagna's viticultural roots extend to Etruscan times, with Romans later establishing trade routes along the Via Aemilia to transport wines. Today, the region produces roughly equal quantities of red and white wines. Beyond Lambrusco, Trebbiano accounts for 30% of production, while Sangiovese contributes 16%, particularly in the Romagna hills to the east. Indigenous varieties like Pignoletto, Montuni, and Malbo Gentile add further diversity.

Natural winemaking has gained momentum here, with producers reviving ancestral methods for sparkling wines and embracing organic farming practices that prioritize terroir expression over technological intervention.
