Tasting notes

Bright ruby with a lively, clear core. The nose shows ripe black cherry, black olive, garrigue, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, the wine is round and juicy, with soft tannins, spiced fruit, and a fresh, mineral-edged finish that keeps it from feeling heavy.

BodyFruitTanninAcidity
  • Style: Medium-bodied, fruit-forward southern Rhône red with a garrigue-tinged aromatic profile, supple tannins, and a lively, fresh finish
  • Grapes & terroir: 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah from hand-harvested parcels on the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail at Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron, Ventoux AOC, on soils of limestone and clay
  • Winemaking: Destemmed; fermented in temperature-controlled cement tanks for 15 to 20 days; aged approximately 10 months in large oak foudres; no purchased fruit, all estate-grown
  • Serving temperature & decanting: Serve at 60 to 63°F; decanting is not essential but 15 minutes in the glass will open it nicely
  • Pairing: Grilled lamb chops with herbes de Provence
  • Similar to: An entry-level Côtes du Rhône Villages or a straightforward Grenache-Syrah blend from Gigondas

Brunier Ventoux Rouge Mégaphone 2024 is a red wine from the Ventoux appellation in the southern Rhône, produced by Vignobles Brunier. The blend is 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, sourced from approximately three hectares of vineyards in Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron, on the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed, then fermented in temperature-controlled cement tanks for 15 to 20 days before aging in 50-hectoliter oak foudres for around 10 months. Brunier Ventoux Rouge Mégaphone 2024 is bottled to reflect the freshness and aromatic character of this hillside terroir.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Famille Brunier

Vignobles Brunier is the umbrella operation for all wines produced by the Brunier family, one of the most established winemaking dynasties in the southern Rhône. The family's connection to the land traces back to 1891, when Hippolyte Brunier first planted vines on the La Crau plateau in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domaine, now known as Vieux Télégraphe, takes its name from the relay tower installed by Claude Chappe on those same vineyards in 1821 as part of his optical telegraph system. Vieux Télégraphe has been operated continuously by the Brunier family across six generations and remains one of the benchmark estates of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.

Brothers Frédéric and Daniel Brunier, representing the fifth generation, have been responsible for significantly expanding the family's holdings since the 1980s. In 1986, they created more accessible cuvées including Le Pigeoulet to showcase the diversity of their Ventoux vineyards. They also acquired a 25-hectare share of Domaine Les Pallières in Gigondas in 1998, in partnership with importer Kermit Lynch, as well as a stake in Massaya in Lebanon. The sixth generation, led by Édouard Brunier, now oversees the estate's day-to-day operations and winemaking, including the Mégaphone project. Mégaphone was born from a parcel acquisition in Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron whose distinct character persuaded the family to vinify it separately rather than folding it into the Pigeoulet blend. The family farms around 15 hectares in the Ventoux area and does not purchase grapes; all wines are produced entirely from estate-grown fruit.

Across the range, the Brunier approach prioritizes native yeast fermentations, large oak foudre aging, and minimal intervention, whether at the level of Vieux Télégraphe or the Mégaphone cuvée.

Wine region

Rhône Valley, France

The Ventoux appellation sits in the far southeast of the southern Rhône, spreading across 51 communes on the western and northern foothills of Mont Ventoux in the Vaucluse department. Granted AOC status in 1973 (upgraded from Côtes du Ventoux), the appellation covers around 6,500 hectares of vineyards and produces red, white, and rosé wines, with reds accounting for the majority of output.

Mont Ventoux itself, known as the "Giant of Provence," stands at just over 1,900 meters and dominates the landscape for miles. Its presence shapes the climate of the entire appellation. The altitude of the vineyards, which range from roughly 150 to 600 meters, creates cooler growing conditions than those found in neighboring appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape or Gigondas. This translates into longer hang time, more moderate alcohol levels, and a freshness in the wines that distinguishes them from the fuller, heavier styles typical of the lower southern Rhône plains.

The Mégaphone vineyard sits on the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the jagged limestone ridge that runs to the west of Mont Ventoux and forms the natural backdrop to appellations including Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and Beaumes-de-Venise. At this specific location, near the village of Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron, vineyards benefit from good altitude, limestone and clay soils, and the moderating influence of altitude and prevailing winds, which retain the aromatic intensity of Grenache while keeping the wines structured and fresh.

Soils across the broader Ventoux appellation are diverse, ranging from limestone scree and stony alluvium on the steeper slopes to clay and sandy sediment on the lower terraces. Grenache is the dominant red grape variety, typically blended with Syrah, and occasionally with Mourvèdre, Cinsault, or Carignan.
