Tasting notes

This is skin-contact Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from biodynamically farmed Margaret River vines, with two weeks of maceration giving it a powdery amber texture that the variety rarely achieves in conventional winemaking. The Gewurztraminer addition pushes the floral and spice register in a way that makes the wine feel more alive than its 11.5% ABV would suggest.

Jumpin' Juice Yellow is a collaboration between Gippsland-based winemakers Patrick Sullivan and Xavier Goodridge. The fruit comes from biodynamically farmed vines — approximately 25 years old — growing on Karri Loam and clay soils in Margaret River, Western Australia. The blend is Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon with a small addition of Gewurztraminer, roughly 7.5%.

Both varieties were destemmed and spent approximately two weeks macerating on their skins before being pressed off. The Semillon went to large foudre and the Sauvignon Blanc to tank; the two were then blended together with the Gewurztraminer. No fining agents were used and SO2 additions were minimal. The result is an amber-hued, skin-contact white with a juicy, slightly wild character.

On the nose, expect ripe tropical fruit — pineapple, lime, and a floral lift from the Gewurztraminer. The palate is textured from the skin contact, with a powdery mouthfeel, bright acidity, and a dry, refreshing finish. It drinks like an orange wine but carries the aromatic energy of Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc.

Jumpin' Juice sits outside Sullivan's main label — it is where he and Goodridge source fruit from across Australia and make wines without the constraints of a single appellation. Serve well chilled.

The texture and acidity here work well against fatty or fried food — fried chicken, salt and pepper squid, or fish tacos. It also holds up to spiced dishes like Thai green curry or Vietnamese spring rolls where a conventional white would get lost. Good as an aperitif served straight from the fridge.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Patrick Sullivan

Patrick Sullivan grew up in rural Victoria and started working in vineyards at age 12. After studying viticulture and spending time in London working in wine retail, he returned to Australia to study formally and then worked alongside winemakers including William Downie and Anna Martens in organically and biodynamically managed Victorian vineyards. He launched his own label in 2010 using fruit from leased sites. In 2015, he and his wife Megan purchased a farm in the Strzelecki Ranges in West Gippsland, where they now grow and make wine. The property sits on basalt over sandstone soils with volcanic parent rock still present in the profile.

Sullivan farms with organic and biodynamic principles and describes his approach as high intervention in the vineyard and low intervention in the cellar. He works alongside Bill Downie on the Strzelecki Ranges property — Downie takes the Pinot Noir, Sullivan takes the Chardonnay. Beyond his home farm, Sullivan sources fruit from additional sites in the Upper Yarra, Henty, Limestone Coast, and Margaret River, selecting for specific soil types and elevations.

In the cellar, Sullivan uses wild yeast fermentation, neutral vessels, and adds little to no sulfur. He does not fine his wines. Jumpin' Juice is a side project he runs with fellow Gippsland winemaker Xavier Goodridge, designed to explore fruit parcels from across Australia outside the constraints of their own geographic indications. The wines are built for immediate drinking with minimal additions.

Wine region

Margaret River, Australia

Margaret River sits at roughly 33.5 degrees south on the southwestern tip of Western Australia, bounded on three sides by the Indian and Southern Oceans. The maritime influence keeps the mean annual temperature range to just 7.6 degrees Celsius, producing a long, even growing season with warm days and cool nights. Annual rainfall averages around 1,100mm but falls almost entirely in winter, leaving the ripening period dry — conditions that parallel a dry Bordeaux vintage.

Soils run along the Leeuwin-Naturaliste ridge from Cape Naturaliste in the north to Cape Leeuwin in the south. The granite and gneiss bedrock is between 150 and 600 million years old, topped with red gravelly loam, clay, and pockets of Karri Loam. The region has no phylloxera history, so most vines grow on their own roots. Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon together account for around 37% of plantings, and the Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc blend is considered the region's most distinctive white style. Margaret River produces roughly 2% of Australia's total grape volume but accounts for over 20% of the country's premium wine market.
