Tasting notes

This is a zero-zero rosé — no sulphur, no additions, nothing removed — yet it drinks clean and precise thanks to early picking and direct press technique. Strawberry and rhubarb lead the nose, backed by bright, mouthwatering acidity that keeps it refreshing from start to finish.

The Agori Rosé is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Merlot sourced from organically farmed vineyards in Hope Forest, at the southern tip of Adelaide Hills, South Australia. The grapes are picked early to preserve brightness and freshness, fermented separately, then blended. Winemaking is direct press with minimal skin extraction, native yeast fermentation, and zero additions or removals at any stage — no sulphur, no fining, no filtration.

Hope Forest sits in a raised valley cooled by two winds: a Southern Ocean wind and a Gulf breeze. This dual cooling effect makes it one of the coldest microclimates in the Adelaide Hills. Vineyard soils are a mix of clay, sand, and ironstone. The Pinot Noir blocks face northeast; the Merlot faces northwest.

Travis Tausend operates as a one-man operation across all functions — growing, making, blending, bottling, labelling, and packaging — with friends and family helping only at harvest. All farming is done using organic practices with no additives used in the winery. The name Agori means "boy" in Greek, and these wines are positioned as everyday drinking wines for family and friends.

The 2019 vintage shows strawberry and rhubarb on the nose, with bright, fresh acidity and a crisp, tangy finish consistent with the early-pick approach Tausend uses across the Agori range.

This rosé works well with light seafood dishes — think grilled prawns, oysters, or a simple fish taco. It also holds up to a fresh goat cheese salad or a charcuterie spread with mild cured meats. The bright acidity cuts through light cream-based sauces without overpowering delicate flavors.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Travis Tausend

Travis Tausend is the sole operator of his namesake label, based in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. He handles every part of the business himself — from viticulture management and winemaking to bottling, labelling, packaging, marketing, and bookkeeping. During harvest he is assisted by friends and family. He has been involved in natural wine in some capacity since 2005.

Fruit for the Agori range is sourced from organically farmed vineyards in Hope Forest, a small community at the southern tip of the Adelaide Hills. The vineyards are planted on several slopes with mostly northeast-facing aspects, except the Merlot which faces northwest. Soils are a mix of clay, sand, and ironstone. The site sits in a raised valley cooled by both a Southern Ocean wind and a Gulf breeze, creating one of the coolest microclimates in the region. Tausend manages under-vine work, mid-row cultivation, and cover crops at the vineyards.

All wines are made as zero-zero: nothing is added or removed at any stage of production. Tausend uses only native yeasts for fermentation and no sulphur is added at any point. Equipment is minimal — a hand destemmer, a hand-driven press, barrels, and tanks. Grapes for the Agori Rosé are picked early to preserve freshness, direct pressed, fermented separately by variety, then blended.

Wine region

Adelaide Hills, Australia

Adelaide Hills is a cool-climate wine region located in the Mount Lofty Ranges east of Adelaide, South Australia. Vineyard elevations range from 400 to 650 metres above sea level, with the highest sites in Crafers, Summertown, Piccadilly, and Carey Gully. The region spans approximately 70 kilometres in a narrow north-south band and covers nearly 1,500 square kilometres. Two registered sub-regions exist within Adelaide Hills: Lenswood and Piccadilly Valley. The cool, dry summers and crisp winters allow for a long, slow ripening season, which helps grapes retain natural acidity and develop defined varietal character.

Soils across Adelaide Hills are variable — the most common profiles are sandy loams, clay loams, and loams over clay subsoils, often combined with shale and ironstone. The diversity of aspect, elevation, and soil type across the region supports a wide range of varieties. Sauvignon Blanc is the most widely planted grape, followed by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The region has also built a reputation for cool-climate expressions of Shiraz and Merlot. The Adelaide Hills GI was officially registered in 1998.
